I have no older or "big brother, therefore he would fill that gap"iinside of me. He was not just my big brother, he was a father figure in his brother and sister life. His parents were hardly ever home, his mother really did not care bout any of her children( to my perception). His father on the other hand did, but he was a trucker so he was rarely home to see things as they were. And when he was there all his father and mother would do is fight and put each other down. But even though he had to live most of his childhood and some of his teens years through this, he never changed from that great person I know. He is more cautious and distrusting than he was when he was younger, but I guess that is what happens when your parens fight all the time. .
Jose came to the U.S. when he was about 14 years old, he came because of my uncles and their poor money managing skills. They sent my cousin, because neither of them had the guts to work hard to get their family out of the debt they were in. Their debt was more than the price of their own home. And that in Mexico is a lot of money. When he arrived we had no idea he was even here. My parents took him in, I of course was in high spirits, but he wasn't. He felt betrayed by his own family, he would sit in our room on the bed and cry, although he never said it, I knew he was hurt. From the moment he arrived he looked for a job. A week after he arrived, he had gotten a job, at a local restaurant. The reason being is that his uncle worked there. He would talk with us how much he was making and plans he had for his money. After about three weeks, his mother called, and told him that she needed all the money he had, he of course sent it, not knowing of what would happen to the money, or what it would be used for. After my mother tried to help him and explained that his mother was not using the money appropriately and that their debt was becoming even larger, he was hurt and decided to go live with his uncle.
