"It is not about your age, it is about your ability" Graeme Bowbrick states proudly, reflecting upon his career although he still misses being the Attorney General, albeit less than he used to. Immediately following the end of his term, and the appointment of another Attorney General, Graeme found it hard to accept the defeat. He could not avoid feeling frustration towards the fact he was so young, and had seen his career as just getting started. He wanted to do things. He was only a cabinet minister for slightly longer than one and a half years, ending his term on June 1st, 2001. By all accounts from the people and the ministry of Attorney General, he did a good job. For his age he has good judgement, is fairly calm about intense political situations that would cause others to falter in their judgment, and maintains a reasonably good philosophical outlet. His frustration was due to the fact that he felt he had a lot of the right ideas in regards to where British Columbia needs direct itself. "I went down with the ship but had little responsibility for sinking the ship but that is just the way it goes." Graeme says, finding the analogy an effective description of his point of view. .

             Graeme Bowbricks most important political experience happened during spring/summer of 1999. The crisis the NDP were faced over Glenn Clarks leadership was a very stressful and disruptive time. Before the whole situation involving the raid on Glenn Clarks house, Graeme Bowbrick was already having philosophical problems with Mr. Clark's style and the direction of government. When the raid occurred at Glenn Clarks house, this dramatically intensified both internal and external issues with the NDP party. This turned into a very ugly and unpleasant situation. In these circumstances what a leader demands is loyalty, which happened to be the last thing Graeme felt for his failed leader. In the eyes of Graeme Bowbrick, Glenn Clark had to leave, for the good of the NDP to have any chance for recovering at all, and this was an opinion shared by many.
