Remember The Titans

This coach, Coach Boone, made a wise move and brought the coach back as his defensive coordinator. This move was the beginning step to the successful integration of both races. These two coaches would eventually become very dear friends, and as is seen quite often in the world of sports, competitors who start as rivals, eventually become friends. .
The difficulty of the coaching job would increase for Coach Boone. In the film, he is made aware that anything less than perfection would result in the Coach Boone's firing. Another conflict in the coaching department would come from the assistant coach's prejudice. The benefit of these two great coaches being equal partners helped to ease the prejudice of the staff and the team. The African-American players and coaches had a figure that they could go to with any problems and controversies that they might have, and so did the white players and coaches. Strong leadership results in the ultimate success of a team, in the Jackie Robinson example listed above, that man was Branch Rickey, the legendary owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers. Strong leadership leads to strong performance. .
The players on this team would be the first integrated high school in their league. This caused major problems in two different aspects of the season. The first is the ultimate acceptance of the players of the opposite race, as teammates. Once again, strong leadership leads to strong performance. The star linebacker, Gary, forced the white members of the team to play their best, despite their feelings of the African-American players. On the other side of the color line, the star African-American player, Julius, forced the black players to play their absolute best, despite their feelings toward the white players. This is where another tradition that happens in sports occurs. The players bonded, as only teammates bond. They proved that the players, who play hard together, are not only players, but brothers.
