The management staff is laid back in their tasks and organization. To some employees that tend to be a good thing because they can get away with doing things half-fast. When management is as laid back as the management staff I work for it could only make sense that the organization is ninety-two percent delinquent. Sometimes it is convenient for the managers to be cool and laid back, but when it comes time to running a company there has to be a fine line. Not having corporate around is a drawback to working at Jefferson Commons. Jefferson Commons runs the management aspect of the apartment complex for JPI. When dealing with financial issues, we go through corporate. Whenever a resident pays rent we fax corporate a copy of the check and they put the information into the resident's account. The processing time is long and strenuous for the management aspect, considering Jefferson Commons has no money until the residents pay rent and the checks are cleared by corporate. Whenever a check is lost due to faxing corporate, the resident gets a letter saying he or she did not pay rent and will be evicted if he or she does not pay. Then Jefferson Commons has to deal with calming the resident down and calling corporate so that they can figure out the problem. This process can take anywhere from several days to several weeks considering most of the accounting issues are out of our control. Another drawback is the lack of leadership at Jefferson Commons because most of the management staff are young adults with little or no experience that are more about the pay check then running the task at hand. The managers are disorganized and inexperienced, which really affects the newer employees who are not getting any type of training due to the lack of organizational skills and motivation. .
While attending school I have learned a lot about business management and business administration.
