The American dream is something everyone wants and can be achieve by anyone; however, in the process of obtaining the American dream the individual must be ready to sacrifice anything. When a person thinks of the American dream they usually think about wealth, freedom, and happiness. A quote example is, "We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness" (Thomas Jefferson). That is what the American dream is all about, that is what the founding fathers fought for, is it what we dreamed of. This is what those who live in an oppressed land think of the America, A country where anything is possible, no barriers stopping you from achieving what you want and being who you want. The American dream is something most people who live in fear and poverty would shortly want, because in America dreams form and they creates hope for those who thought there wasn't any left.
When people who live in an oppressed land where there is no hope of survival and they hear America their first thought is immediately jobs and freedom. They imagine what the streets would look like and they actually think they are paved in gold, but that is not true however. They dream of America being a land where every human being is treated equal regardless what they look like. Most immigrants dream of a country where their children would finally get their proper education and also not having them go to bed with an empty stomach that is what they hope for. People come to America to start a new life with hope, hope to get everything right to provide for themselves and for those who they left back home. These people want the best for their kids and families this is why they are willing to cross oceans, deserts to obtain the American dream. The American dream is still attainable because people who are will to obtain it they will shortly have it.
