This paper will highlight the methods used to monitor these areas. .
             In order to maintain productivity, keep absenteeism low and prevent turnover during the acquisition, research needs to be done so a strategy can be developed that will prevent these things from happening. Due to the short timetable of the acquisition research, methods need to be made in accordance with the time constraints presented. Time does not allow for detailed case studies or field experiments. Research will be confined to interviews and looking at case studies of other companies placed in similar fate. This is particularly important given that almost 60% of mergers and acquisitions failed to increase shareholder value. (Reiman, 55) .
             One of the first items that will have to be done is to look at the culture of both companies involved in the acquisition. The question of "who do I go to for input- arises. The best resources are company publications and individuals themselves. The core values of both organizations need to be identified to determine where differences and similarities exist. A comparison of the differences and similarities that exist will allow for an approach that leverages the best of both groups while understanding the potential for conflict that needs to be managed. Gathering information on both organizations will involve reviewing company charters and mission statements and interviewing key personnel for their opinion on what does and does not work well for their individual organizations to determine where true synergies exist.

Reviewing case studies involving companies that have been through acquisitions before is a good place to look for information that can be helpful in determining what has worked well for other companies and what lessons were learned. It is often valuable to look the experiences of others to emulate successful methods and not make the same mistakes that they may have made in similar circumstances.
