Conditions for Forming Team Organizations

Introduction Throughout the many job interviews I've experienced in my life, the most often asked question that I can recall is "how do you see yourself as a team player?" Today, more and more education institutes have recognized the importance of developing students' professional skills as part of their education. Skills such as "problem solving, communication skills, collaboration, interpersonal skills, and time management" (Luca & Tarricone, 2001, p. 367) are heavily emphasized by most organizations during employee recruitment. Among these skills, employment authorities consider the most critical skills to have in an organizational team environment to be collaboration and teamwork (Luca & Tarricone, 2001). Schools often request that students participate in group projects in order to enhance their collaboration and teamwork abilities. These can be in the form of a research project, presentation, or field study. No matter what kind of project it may be, or who

Hamlet, Claudius and Deception

A man is not what he thinks he is, he is what he hides. By hiding his true self, he avoids distractions, which helps him to deceive others. In William Shakespeare's revenge tragedy, Hamlet, the main characters, prince Hamlet and his stepfather, king Claudius both hide their true selves to deceive each other. However, Hamlet is more successful at hiding himself to deceive Claudius because he is able to figure out the king's secrets. They both try to hide their thoughts and feelings from each other to deflect suspicion of knowing information the other doesn't. Hamlet's madness is an act to help hide his true emotions from Claudius which helps to plot against him. Claudius tries to hide his guilt of killing the former king, Hamlet's father by pretending to not be suspicious of Hamlet's behavior. Both of them have a varying amount of people to trust, which impacts their ability to hide their true selves. Claudius tries to kill Hamlet many times by ordering different people to do the horrib

Philosophy of The Picture of Dorian Gray

I. Introduction Various definitions of art and its function were given during the nineteenth century. Perhaps, no other literary era has dealt more with the purpose of art. Accordingly, several movements including Realism, Pre-Raphaelites, Aesthetic movement proclaimed their own ideologies of it. These different ideas of art presented a great impact in the poetical development of Oscar Wilde, who agreed and disagreed with some of them, until his critical artist appears with the creation of his own theory of art. "Some said my life was a lie, but I always knew it to be the truth, for like the truth it was rarely pure and never simple" was a response of Oscar Wilde, before he died, to Jean Dupoirier who questioned him about his life in London [ CITATION Pet97 l 1033 ]. Certainly, comprehending Wilde is not simple, but at the same time this fact adds a reason more to analyze his works, since he occupies a great place in the intellectual stature of the nineteenth century. How to Hatch and Raise Triops

Triops, also known as tadpole shrimp, are often called living fossils. This is due to the fact that Triops have lived on our planet for over 350 million years. The little creatures are still around today and are unchanged from their oldest ancestors. These freshwater crustaceans are becoming increasingly more popular with kids and adults alike. Triops are not too difficult to care for as long as one follows all of the important steps. Below, I will explain everything required in order to hatch, raise, and breed Triops. If these instructions are followed carefully, one is guaranteed to have success. Purchase Materials. Any food grade container made of glass or plastic will work as a tank. The container should be at least two liters in size. Never use tap water under any circumstances. Use distilled deionized water. It is recommended that you get a standard desk lamp to keep the water warm. A substrate is required for the bottom of the tank. Soil or gravel is acceptable, but coral sand i

Antigone Monologue

My character is Antigone and for my five symbols I have chosen a mule, angel wings and a halo, the grim reaper, a feminist symbol and a dog. For my first symbol, the mule, this represents Antigone's stubbornness, given the saying "stubborn as a mule". I have chosen stubbornness as one of Antigone's traits because that along with loyalty are her Hamartia's. Her stubbornness brings her demise as she refuses to change her ways and buries Polynieces. The next symbol is angel wings and a halo. These are representative of Antigone's devotion to the practice of divine law. Her downfall revolves around this devotion to divine law and pushes her to make many choices throughout the novel, such as disobeying Creon's decree in order to follow the laws of the gods. The grim reaper represents Antigone's welcoming of death and her respect for the dead overpowering her respect for the living. She states that she must please the dead far long than s

Passion Brings No Limits

Never once was I given encouragement or advice, only criticized and left there hanging to fix my mistakes myself. Surrounded by my teammates who seemed to be excelling in their skill level, not knowing how to make myself better, and fearful of asking for help, left me feeling helpless and alone. This feeling of not belonging is vile; never again will I let someone make me feel like an outcast. It started around the time I was a freshman in high school when I had just recently joined the Sunrise Soccer U14 team. I had never had problems on my previous club teams; however, none of them contained girls who were as competitive as these. Although I knew I did not have the same skill level as some of them, I had the heart, mentality, and soul to progress and work to become one of the best. I was ecstatic to be able to play at such a high level of competition with some of the best players in the state, only to come to find out they were as snobby and stuck up as the rest of the town. We beg

Movie Recommendation - Super Size Me

Good morning everyone! As a member of the ___________, I'm going to share an educational documentary about health and science for junior form students today. Before I start, actually, what would happen if you eat nothing but fast food every day for every meal? And that's what Morgan Spurlock, the film maker, did in this true experiment, which generated the documentary titled The Super Size Me in 2004 and has sparked a tremendous shock with a great deal of satirical humour via the whole wide world. Morgan Spurlock, inspired by several legal suits against McDonald's Restaurant, makes himself the test subject as a guinea pig and is out to verify the relationship between obesity and fast food and explore how fast food deteriorate our health and live. During the 30 consecutive days experiment, he could only have 3 meals in McDon

The Hardest Time

There are times when it feels it is easier to give up especially when your family isn't perfect, but I have learned there is no such thing as a perfect family. I would have never figured this out if I had given up. There are times where all you think about is giving up. My parents divorced when I was around thirteen it took me awhile to get through it and understand it because there was nothing in my hands that I could've done. Their divorce has affected me a lot in school. I didn't want to be a weak minded about it but it just got to me and suddenly everything changed. When I was a toddler I saw everything about my family as if it were perfect. My dad would take care of me daily, tuck me into bed and play with me constantly. My mother would feed me and sing to me until I would fall asleep. Every Friday, Saturday and Sunday my father would take me, my sister, and mother to an amusement park and out to eat. Our family would get along and be united, it was all I ever dreamed of. Then came the time every parent dreaded for their child, becoming a young adult entering into my teenage years. Things started to change in my

Short Story - Jungle of Terror

It was all she could do was not to jump out of her seat as heightened screams tore through the cabin, amplified twice its loudness due to the cramped cabin size. The nose of the plane dipped and passengers of Oahu Air 112 were passing out one by one due to the drop in altitude. She didn't feel sick as she had done numerous parachute jumps during her Navy SEAL training. However, she could not control her heart from racing wildly as the plane careened at a much steeper angle. She tried attempted to steady her breathing as she inhaled and exhaled deeply from the oxygen mask that was strapped onto her mouth. She glanced to her left and right and saw that most of the screaming passengers have already passed out. She clutched her armrests so tightly that her knuckles turned white as the strong pull of gravity threatened to make her slide out of her seat. She suppressed the urge not to puke as a disembodied hand of a man hurtled down the aisle to come to a rest just a few seats away from her.

Achieving My Life Goals

I thought that enrolling into online course would be kind of hard. Because you have to make sure you are focused on your school work. And I thought I wouldn't have time to do any assignments due to working and extra activities but I managed everything well. And I also thought that the timing was wrong due to me getting married this year. Taking online classes are easy once you put your mind to it. And remembering to logging in could be difficult to do when you are busy. I am not satisfied with my grade that I have now because I know I can do better that what I've have done. But with the people behind me that is pushing me to keep moving forward I think I will do good with the rest of my classes that I have coming up. Time management can help you in many

Gay Culture and Technology

The exponential progression of technological advancement has profoundly impacted the way in which we live our lives and has led to giant leaps in social progression in gay culture. The magic wand known as the iPhone can be perceived as an extension of ourselves, and once accepted as that allows for a vast expansion of human interaction with the world around us. Richard Dawkins describes these advancements as our extended phenotype. That is, our phenotype should not be limited to biological processes, rather extended to include all effects that a gene has on its environment, inside or outside of the body of the individual organism. It allows for behaviour that otherwise would be impossible before the rise of smart devices. For the gay community especially it allows free social cohesion outside of clubs, bars or beats. Apps such as Grindr, Hornet and Tinder introduce a virtual, game-like experience to dating and social life. They can provide the security of anonymity for those not &apo

Analysis of The White Tiger

In most cultures, children are raised with a set of morals and ideals to strive for. However, what is rarely mentioned is the difficulty of embodying these ideals, especially when one's closest companions have the most impact on one's morality. This struggle is prevalent in the development of the protagonist Balram Halwai in The White Tiger by Aravind Adiga. Mr Ashok and the Halwai family have many influences on this story, however their most vital contributions are being the sources of the corruption of the White Tiger within Balram Halwai. The Halwai family breaches his family morals, while Mr Ashok, his employer, offers him opportunities only attainable by treachery. To begin with, the Halwai family's relentless attempts to profit off of Balram is the source of the breach in his family ties and values. When Balram first encounters success, his Grandma Kusum  is ready to spoil that career success for family wealth. During Balram's visit to his family home, his Grandma entertains

3D Printing - Technology and Engineering Education

There are gunsmiths today that are making lower receivers for weapons using a printer, how is this possible? I wondered the same thing, so I did some searching and found a good article called "3D Printing In Technology and Engineering Education." This article was written to explain how 3D printing can be used in education but it also explains what 3D printing was in general very well. This article was written by three gentlemen that are part of the Department of Technology at Illinois State University. "In the past five years, there has been tremendous growth in the production and use of desktop 3D printers" (Martin 30). The authors start off by telling the reader about the evolution of 3D printing technology. This was done by stating were the concept originated from the Computer numeric Controlled (CNC) machines, were first invented in 1952 and how the first computers were wired to a milling machine. Improving Conditions for the Homeless

Many of us wake up in a bed that lies in the comfort of our own home, drive to work or school, and eat hot meals practically every single day. As a person who resides in a middle class family, I can admit that I often take these privileges for granted without purposely doing it. Unfortunately, many individuals do not get to experience this way of living simply because they are homeless. These people are sleeping and living in places that are not stable or permanent. For example, they are sleeping on the streets, under bridges, and/or in shelters. The homeless population is steadily increasing every day; therefore, there should be discussions on whether or not it can be stopped and how. Homelessness is not only described as a state of being homeless. Ally Fogg, a journalist for The Guardian, describes homelessness as a "lack of housing, lack of jobs, lack of money, lack of social support, lack of mental health care, but above all, lack of compassion where it matters." Ally Fo

Unexpected Financial Plummets

Sometimes one faces a situation that is out of their control. These are times where one powers through, given the circumstances, because that is the only choice. In the past, the United States' economy has muscled through tough times. When the economy powers through, the people of the United States have to power through harder. The most historical tough time the United States went through is The Great Depression. From 1929-1939 more than 15 million Americans became unemployed (Bernstein). With the spike in unemployment, many Americans had to stretch every penny they earned to keep food on the table. Being one of the most adverse times in America, Americans responded to adversity in the best way possible. Adversity is something everyone will face in their life. Within the last nine months, the price of oil and gas fell affecting many families creating a whole new adverse situation. My family was one of those affected by the drop in oil and gas prices and recovering from this adverse pos

Learning to Love English

I experienced childhood in an extremely blessed family. We never truly needed to stress over low amounts of pay, and we had the opportunity to purchase extra stuff and go on trips to different places every year, which isn't some of the different families in the United States. I never truly saw how we had the capacity to do this, knowing that my dad was the only one that has a high school diploma and my mother only having the education of a 5th grader. They rarely read, and if they did, it was a Vietnamese newspaper. They also rarely wrote, anything they did write was for groceries or writing down the chores that I needed to perform. My parents would always pushed me as much as possible telling me that school is important and should come first before anything else. In those days, I never truly comprehended why they would make me try so hard in school. At first I thought it was just because I was Asian and that it was an Asian stereotype. Buy now that

Feminism in Shakespeare

In most of Shakespeare's work, they seem to dramatize the most when there is a broad disconnection characterizing the male versus female relationship. Works such as Macbeth, Othello, and his comedies all have some sort of tragedy that illustrates the opposition of power between a male and female character. Throughout Shakespeare's work, there is at least one major leading character that unifies the whole play to which they are a female. Many of Shakespeare's female characters deal with having power and influence, and often do so in an unusual way that challenges the traditional role of a woman. Because of this, critics such as Janet Adelman, Phillippa Berry, and Irene Dash discuss the relationship between where gender issues highlights about how the female characters are viewed as victims of feminism in Shakespeare's work. Feminism is a movement that seeks equality for women's rights against men and to eliminate the underestimated ideas of gender. For example, the strength between a m

Thomas Aquinas Writes About Sex

"Thomas Aquinas Writes About Sex" HIST121- Western Civilization before the Thirty Years War January 9, 2015   St. Thomas Aquinas (c. 1225-1274) was an Italian Dominican theologian and philosopher who was one of the most influential medieval thinkers and writers concerning Scholasticism. St. Thomas Aquinas had a very unique way of addressing appropriate social behavior towards God. "St. Thomas Aquinas identified three types of laws: natural, positive and eternal. According to his treatise, natural law prompts man to act in accordance with achieving his goals and governs man's sense of right and wrong; positive law is the law of the state, or government, and should always be a manifestation of natural law; and eternal law, in the case of rational beings, depends on reason and is put into action through free will, which also works toward the accomplishment of man's spiritual goals." (St. Thomas Aquinas Biography, 2015) The combination of theology and modern philos

Being a Pediatric Nurse

I have always loved kids. One of my favorite classes in high school was a teacher's assistant to a second grade teacher. During that class I decided that I wanted to work with kids in some way in my career. I started exploring my options at this point. First I wanted to be a teacher, but then I decided I wanted something with better job security. That is how I came to the decision of being a Registered Nurse. I have always enjoyed helping people feel better and nurses will always be needed; that is when I decided I was going to be a pediatric nurse. This process will be done in steps. I plan on attending Lower Columbia College and going through their nursing program. That will allow me to graduate there with my RN. Then I will transfer to a university and continue my education to get my Bachelors in Science and Nursing. After that I would like to specialize in Pediatrics. In order to specialize in pediatrics I will need to enroll in a bridge program to get my Masters in Science and N

Biography of V.P. Menon

V P Menon was the Constitutional Adviser to the last three Viceroys during British rule in India. He was the only Indian in Mountbatten's inner team. Menon's plan for the partition of India into two Dominions was the one which was eventually adopted. It was Menon who realised the need to get the Princely States to accede to India before the date of independence and that Mountbatten was the ideal person to facilitate this. When the communal violence began following independence, Menon asked Mountbatten to take charge. Menon and Sardar Patel later achieved the full integration of the Indian States. Menon has never received the recognition he deserved for his contributions and this paper is intended to highlight Menon's role during this crucial period in Indian history and to draw attention to his views on events and personalities. The last three Viceroys, Lords Linlithgow, Wavell and Mountbatten all valued his advice. Menon was present at many of the meetings successive Viceroys had

The Selection of the Sex

Abstract As much as the attempt to control the gender of offspring to achieve a desired sex may be appealing to some, others as equally disregard it. This particular argument can be carried either way and is currently being address and practiced in all available parts of the world. In this study, I will present a process called preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) and explain the procedural aspects of it work. I will list the gender selections process and the potential negative and positive philosophy behind it. Also, the ethical aspects of this procedure and related issues will be explained and how this relates to a larger global problem regarding discrimination rather than simply a choice in westernized countries. To conclude, I will present my personal point of view weather or not gender selection is the right thing to do. Introduction Who would of ever thought that a beautiful thing such as conceiving a child can one day be enhanced that not only you can find out what the gend

Essay on Identity

Identity is simply defined as an individual's own sense of self and who they believe they are, linking to the different variants of defining one's self through age, sex, ethnicity, and etcetera. These types will be explored in the following texts, emphasising the challenges faced when defining the sense of identity: a pun cartoon "Block Party" and "The Lake Isle Of Innisfree", a poem about the author's uncertainty of defining identity in different worlds. The cartoon "Block Party" is generally seen as a pun. The term "block party" itself refers to a crowded party or event that is participated by a community congregate. However, the irony is that the cartoon contradicts with the term. The couple pictured in the cartoon is seen literally blocking another couple from crossing the entrance to the party. The
