Stress is a huge problem for me in my time of life. Stress occurs when we adapt or adjust to the environment, mentally or physically. Every day there's something new that's stressful. My car will break, tests coming up, all at once of course. All of a sudden they"ll be a problem between me and one of my girl friends. There's many ways to release stress though. We've learned in class about taking the yoga breaths and ...

If there is no struggle there is no progress Progression is almost impossible without a struggle in one way or another. There are few successful leaders that did not struggle at some point on their ladder to greatness and success. On some occasions a person may have fame and fortune but did not have to struggle to have it. Sometimes a person can have these things through family inheritance or by twisted fat...

Critique: How I Learned to Sweep The poem "How I Learned to Sweep" is written beautifully. I like the rhyme scheme and the pentameter. I think its very unique how the author, Julia Alvarez, ties together the sweeping with the broom and the sweeping of the weeds from a helicopter dropping off troops. The lines " our soldiers were landing in their helicopters into jungles their propellers swept like weeds seen underwater- gives you a beautiful mental picture. You can actually see weeds underwater swaying and also weeds being swept down from a helicopter. Another visually strong element is this "...

The story of Cio-cio-san, the eternally faithful heroine, is one of the most wrenching (and well-known) in all of opera. A young geisha is so blinded by hope for a better life that she does not see the truth about the man she loves until it is too late. But look deeper, there is more to this story than we often see. The culture conflict between the East and West is just beneath the surface. In 1900, Japan was discovering the West, both the arrogance and the promise, for the first time. During that time, hundreds of Japanese women married American servicemen and immigrated to America. Countless...
