He was buried in Jack London State Park; Valley of the Moon, Sonoma Country, California. Jack London did not receive any awards throughout his life.
In the novel, White Fang, many themes were demonstrated, all involving death, love and survival. The theme of the novel is that love begets love. This classic tale is about a violent, morose, and suspicious wolf dog that is tamed by the love and kindness of his gentle master. By the end of the book, White Fang has submitted totally to his kind master and will doing anything to protect him and his family. In the same vein, London shows that hate begets hate, as proven by White Fang's early experiences with his cruel masters and by the case of Jim Hall (London 100-230).
The equally important, theme of the novel is "survival of the fittest" in a cruel, ruthless, and wild world. Despite the many external factors there is an example of an excellent physical specimen who can survive in his harsh environment. Had White Fang not been able to protect himself in the wild, White Fang would never have experienced the love of his kind master.
Jack London made the realism of the character come to life, and each character had an individual description. White Fang is the gray wolf cub, which the novel revolves around. His character develops over the course of the novel. There is White Fang's mother, the leader of the wolf pack who mates with One Eye; she is highly experienced with humans. Gray Beaver is the Indian master of White Fang who can be quite violent. He becomes addicted to alcohol, loses his money and White Fang, and returns to his camp. Beauty Smith is the white master of White Fang, who trains him for dogfights, abuses him and makes money at White Fang's expense. He is the example of cruelty. Lip Lip is the domesticated dog of the Indian camp. White Fang becomes hostile and fights with this dog. Weedon Scott is the kindest master White Fang ever has.
