Studies have shown that the employee job satisfaction is affected by a number of factors which range from salary, decision making powers, job security, flexibility, leadership etc. Appropriate leadership styles in the organisations particularly have great impact on the level of employee job satisfaction and productivity. These studies have been carried out in a number of domains such as business, education, government, military and healthcare and all of these clearly point out that in all sort of organisations, the leadership skills and styles impact the levels of employee job satisfaction.
             Aim.
             The primary objective of this study is to examine the nature of relationship between the leadership skills and employee job satisfaction. This study also tries to analyse the impacts different kinds of leadership styles can have on the productivity of the employees and the overall level of job satisfaction. The study examines two distinct types of leadership styles such as transformational and transactional. .
             Scope.
             The study was scoped towards both the government and private sector organisations to prepare a comparative conclusion based on the findings of the research. Apart from the overall aim of the study to examine the relationship of the employees job satisfaction with the leadership styles and the impact those styles have on the levels of employee job satisfaction, the study also analyses the aspects of the transactional leadership in terms of rewards, management through exceptions and transformational leadership in terms of influence over subordinates, motivation and inspiration etc. .

             According to Robbins (2001) Leadership can be defined as the influence a leader on to their followers or the subordinates which is a result of the process of interaction between the leaders and the followers.
