The Evolution of Mickey Mouse

In his eighty-five years of existence, Mickey Mouse has gone through many changes. Who would believe that a small, thin, long-tailed, beady-eyed rodent would become a popular icon with the symbol of innocence, youth and happiness throughout the world? Mickey Mouse has had various meanings by the millions who've enjoyed his presence on and off the screen for decades. Last year the Disney Channel came out with a brand new Mickey Mouse who looks more like the Mickey of old rather than the one who hangs out in the Clubhouse on Disney Junior. To honor everyone's favorite mouse, we'll take a look at how Mickey has evolved over time. The history of Mickey Mouse began on November 18, 1928 when Walt Disney came up with a rabbit as his first character. He had long ears and a tail and his name was Oswald. Advertising - Axe Repositioning Plan

1. Given the present data, what do you think HUL should do – at a brand level? 1. Product Although Axe was the first entrant into the market, over time the competition has risen and challenged its position by offering greater benefits and value to consumers. With a plethora of 'me too' products it is important for Axe to extend its offerings and product portfolio to include more male grooming products. More importantly, it is necessary for the brand to create a strong resonance in the minds of the consumer with secondary benefits. It needs to highlight them and create strong differentiation amongst its variants as well. There is limited incentive left in merely highlighting Axe as a weapon in the mating arena. There is a need for rational benefits to come through in the current scenario. 2. Proposition 'The Axe Effect' still has a unique appeal and it will do well for the company to

2H2O Decomposition

Aim This experiment is designed to see how temperature affects the breakdown of hydrogen peroxide by the enzyme catalase. Scientific Knowledge Enzymes are biological catalysts. They are produced in all living organisms and control all the chemical reactions that occur. Most of the chemical reactions that occur in living organisms would occur too slowly without enzymes. Increased temperatures would speed up reactions but using enzymes means that the reactions are fast enough at body temperature. Enzymes are protein molecules that have a particular shape. They have a slot or a groove into which the substrate fits. The reaction then takes place and the products leave the enzyme. This explains why enzymes are specific. Each enzyme is designed to fit only one substrate. Catalase is a very fast reacting enzyme; it is found in many living cells, it breaks down hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. One molecule of it can break down 6million molecules of hydrogen peroxide in 1 minute. Hyd

Political Overview of Offshore Drilling

Currently, there is a huge stress on energy dependence within our country. In 2011, the United States spent a combined $460 Billion on oil imports. This outrageous number is derived from the increasing demand for oil. 40% of our total crude oil is imported, primarily to strengthen our fight for energy independence2. This an issue that must be addressed in order to strengthen our domestic markets. Conscious efforts by Congress and the President to put limits on the exploration of offshore oil shales have made it difficult for major oil companies to tap into these valuable resources. These limits are imposed primarily on account of environmental concerns because the drilling process excretes pollutants into the water and air3. Although it is true that drilling has a negative impact on the environment with its marine life and pollution of the water, the expansion of offshore drilling must be pursued in order for the United States to maintain its standards within the international market e

Factors and Responses to Combat Exhaustion

In 1940, people in the United States felt that they were isolated from the war in Europe. This feeling of isolation soon faded. On December 17, 1941 the Japanese attacked the United States naval base Pearl Harbor. The United States was forced to join the war in full force. Young men just starting their lives or preparing to by studying at university knew that they were now likely to be drafted into the armed forces. This fact meant that their lives were forever going to change and possibly be cut very short. Lowell H. Harrison, who was attending Western Kentucky University before the attack, said that "it was still a shock to realize that the United States was actively involved." Soon after saying this, he became a part of the United States Army Reserve. He and many others were ripped out their daily routines because of the war. Before the United States' involvement in the war, many young American men were living everyday lives, but now were being forced to leave everything

Legalism, Confucianism and Daoism

China incorporated three ancient philosophies within their lifestyles during the time periods of 600 BCE and 200 BCE. These three philosophies were Legalism, Confucianism and Daoism. Each philosophy had its own way of viewing the nature of human beings, civilization and the world. Legalism believed that human nature was evil and individuals were disciplined by laws, where rewards and punishments were enforced. Confucianism took a humanistic approach in which an individual's action determined whether they were good or bad. Daoism was developed on the concept of the Doa way as the origin of creation and the presence of nature. The individuals believed that Doa and nature was the way in which life should be lived and allow nature to take its course. While these three philosophies differed in many aspects, their purpose of life was of the same equivalence. All three philosophies collectively believed that they were needed in order to improve humanity, end conflict and in turn keep order

Parents, Children and Sex Education

Sex is the continuity of life. There is no one who knows when and what to teach our children about sex more than us. Because sex education is the most sensitive education in the children's lives, it should begin at home. Parents should be the primary instructors of sex education for their children. Home is the best place to talk to children about sex education for many reasons. Parents like to teach their children about sex education in the way they believe and the culture they came from. There are many people in the United States from many cultures. These cultures have their own thoughts about sex. Narrative Structure - A Farewell to Arms

A Farewell to is a wonderful novel about world war one and the experiences and relations of a man named Henry. A Farewell to Arms has a strong narrative structure consisting of an exposition, rising & falling actions, a climax, and, a resolution. A farewell to Arms does well to adhere to that structure but sometimes it can feel like the story falls and begins to rise onto the rest of the story. Exposition is the introduction of what is needed for everything to develop into a story. Here it can be easily seen at the start of the story. Here the reader is introduced to the war, and Henry's role as a part of the ambulance core and his role in the war with the Italians. It also introduces us to the Italians in the war with him. More importantly it introduces the early stages of Henry's and Catherine's relationship. At this point everything that's plays a major role in the development of the story as been shown to us. Broadly, that being Catherine and Henry and the war itself that the Italians require Henry for. Once everyone has been introduced and the reader has a feel for the story, the entire s

Epistemology - Philosophical Study of Knowledge

Epistemology is the philosophical study of knowledge. There are two distinct main ideas that branch off epistemology, rationalism and empiricism. Rationalism is acquired independently or prior to sense experience. One of the main rationalist is Rene Descartes who was a very influential philosopher who had a problem of knowledge and how to justify it. He believed that humans contain innate ideas. Empiricism is also known as a posteriori, it depends entirely on the sense perception. The leading empiricist is John Locke and he rejects the concept of innate ideas. There are also other empiricists that support Lockes concept such as George Berkeley and David Hume. Nevertheless, this criticism of Locke to Descartes, prove more than enough, that the empiricist account is more plausible. In Descartes first Meditation he focused about doubt and innate ideas. The Meditation texts describes the concept that since our senses are fallible, it is prone to error and cannot be trusted and our mind is

Oveview of American Imperialism

The late 1800's and early 1900's, is a period in which the most powerful nations in that time such as the United States, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, France, wanted to gain more power and show the world who was the most powerful of the world. So the United States went through an era of imperialism. At the time, the U.S. was quite powerful, but was looking to continue to spread their territory, make themselves even stronger, and have multiple trade routes to have all the resources they needed and wanted. To obtain all of that, these powers believed that they should established overseas colonies. For example, France established in IndoChina, Britain in India, Australia and took control of the East coast of China, Spain had colonies in Latin America, the Philippines. And later the U.S. also started to establish colonies. Understanding Ourselves Through the Sciences

The sciences, both natural and human, are arguably the most objective areas of knowledge as they deal more in fact and observation, as opposed to the more opinionated and inference-based subjective areas of knowledge like faith and ethics. Before we delve deeper into how the sciences give us a better grasp of ourselves, we must first find out why mankind began asking such existential questions in the first place. Though the human race has existed roughly for the past 250,000 years, we had only began developing intellectually after the Neolithic Agricultural Revolution which took place around 12,000 years ago during the Stone Age. It is during this time period that man learned to farm and raise livestock, evidently saving time and energy, allowing for contemplation and recreational activities. This newly acquired method of food production allowed these early beings to live easier as survival was no longer a burden. This period was a turning point when man no longer asked himself the q
