How Service Can Change Our LivesAs soon as I was told I would be volunteering in the elementary, I was very hesitant and did not look forward to it at all. I have never experienced being around a lot of children at once so I was worried that either something was going to happen to one of them, if one choked, if one fell and got hurt severely or what to do if they started crying. I was not expecting to be changed so much by these 21 children. There have been times where I wanted to break down, cry and switch service sites, but then there are times that I leave my service site and become upset because I don't want to leave. More recently, the second one has been more and more coming true as my senior year is coming to an end. Throughout the school year, I have met some amazing children. Some of the children that I serve stand out to me with individual memories that we have had together. Although I have had memories with all of the kids, Alyssa and Gavin will both hold a special place in my heart of why I always look |

How Soccer Influenced a CSUEB Kinesiology StudentI was lucky enough to get the opportunity to sit down with one of my peers, Jack Stone, and discuss what soccer has meant to him throughout his life. In the beginning, I wasn't sure how the interview was going to go because I have never played soccer in an organized fashion so I couldn't get that true heartfelt connection with Jack about the sport. But as the Interview moved on, I realized that I didn't have to play soccer throughout my life in order for me to understand what the sport truly means to him. Luckily I have played baseball all my life including right now at Cal State East Bay and I used this to my advantage in regards to how I structured the interview and what questions I wanted to ask Jack. I really wanted to find out what inspired a CSUEB student to play soccer. The interview process as a whole was very interesting, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect once I clicked the record button on my phone. From my standpoint, I wasn't nervous at all because I had my questions wri |

International Business and Globalization1.0 Introduction With the process of globalization, a surging number of companies are diversifying and expanding trades and capital abroad. These companies, known as "Multinational Enterprise" which implicates the organization that do business in multiple countries rather than only in domestic economy. These transactions across different countries, however, are to be closely related to different cultures, which can be defined as "the sum total of the beliefs, rules, techniques, institutions, and artifacts that characterize human populations" (Ball and McCulloch, 1999) or "the collective programming of the mind." (Hofstede, 1980). In fact, there are two different approaches for interpreting culture: one refers to sociocultural level, which focuses on the people's values, rules and beliefs. The other is based on an institutional level, like organizational culture. This essay lays emphasis on the impacts of sociocultural factors and then elaborates that what |

Maternity (Pregnant Woman) by Marc Chagall - 1913In the modest Russian town of Vitebsk, there was a creative explosion that became one of the most influential gateways to the art of the 20th century. Vitebsk was the birth place of many influential artists, such as Yuri Moiseevich Pen, Leon Gaspard and Lazar Khidekel, who all began to express their artistic ideas within the same time period. Vitebsk is also the birthplace of Marc Chagall, the creator of the painting Maternity and innovator of Fauvism. Vitebsk at the time period was a town located in the Russian Empire. The town was located within the limits of the Pale of Settlement. Author Margot Singer stated, "The Pale of Settlement covered roughly, 20 percent of European Russia during the 1800s and early 1900s, when it was abolished in 1917" (Singer). The Pale of Settlement is now modern Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Latvia. The Pale of Settlement was created as a safe haven for Jewish peoples in the regions. At its height, the Pale had a Jewish population of over five |

Incorporating Education in Hispanic CommunitiesCurrently, there is no doubt that poverty exists in many homes and communities across the nation. Among these families, a majority are unemployed with little to no education. Specifically, Hispanics are largely poverty-stricken. In contrast to other ethnicities, Hispanics are less likely to graduate from high school or get a college degree. Circumstances vary; nonetheless, Hispanics may fail to get an education because of working to help support the family. Neglecting to receive an education causes families to be trapped in impoverished living. Students with a college degree are more likely to leave poverty than those who either left school before graduation or earned only a high school diploma. Receiving an education can be a gateway out of poverty in Hispanic communities. Hispanics that receive an education are likely to obtain a higher income or job position. In today's society, a high school diploma is a minimum requirement to succeed in an extremely skilled and educated work fo |

Men, Women and AdvertisingAdvertisers bombard their viewers with countless advertisements throughout their lives. An advertisement is a notice or announcement in a public medium promoting a product, service, or event or a possible job opening. One of the largest mediums of oppression to the genders is advertisement. Those effected the most by this form of oppression live in a more modern society where advertising is more prevalent. Those with greater access or those who are constantly around advertising are affected the greatest. Some of the ways in which advertisements reach viewers include the internet, television and magazines. In advertisements, both male and female genders are told what to drink, what to eat, what to wear, how to act, and even what to think. However, the oppression that occurs towards both the male and female genders does not always receive its proper recognition. Oppression affects both the male and female gender through sexism in advertisement, which takes the form of prejudice, discrimi |

Inclusion in the ClassroomInclusion in the classroom allows disabled students to learn at the same rate as their non-disabled peers. Without inclusion, students are segregated and are left out. One of the largest controversies schools face today is the inclusion of students with special needs into general education classes. It is often questioned by administrators, staff, and parents whether there is truly an academic effect on special needs students being placed into general education classes. Inclusion provides students with fairness by helping them hands-on with the amenities and accommodations they need to succeed, whereas segregated classes are unable to do so. Inclusion into general education classes are meant to address each students' unique strengths and weaknesses as well as respecting and learning from each other's' individual differences. Inclusion in a school ensures there are no students that feel left out; special needs students feel accepted and part of the class. Students learn to work well wit |

High School Track and FieldTrack and field season starts in March to the end of May, but preseason starts in December. There is also a post season is from the end of May to December. People who are really dedicated or training for the Olympics and big track events train year round. When training you do a whole bunch of different workouts. Some days you would do a short run and then weight training. Weight training builds the strength in your arms so you can swing them longer, and swinging your arms boosts your speed. Also you do a lot of core exercises to build up your abs strength. Other days you would do things like run a really long run and the day after that is usually a recovery day (short run) so your muscles don't get too sore. Having a good diet is a really big part of weather you will succeed or fail in track. Any one who runs needs a lot more calorie intake than people who do not run. Your body burns off so many calories when you are working it off and sweating. You need a lot of energy to run, which is exactly what food gives you. If you eat unhealthy food such as donuts, cookies, brownies |

Friendship in Epic of GilgameshThe epic of Gilgamesh is the oldest Mesopotamian story. In this poem, every literary ingredient of other cultures are together; values, jealousy, immortality, loyalty, and also the manly love between Gilgamesh and Enkidu, were recorded in only some mud tablets. The epic of Gilgamesh covers a lot of fundamental and universal ideas. One of the most important is friendship, based on the one between Gilgamesh and Enkidu. These two, both different and similar heroes, started a friendship based on loyalty and respect after they engaged in a fight and Gilgamesh forgave Enkidu's life. This powerful relationship carries the narrative throughout all the epic. Loyal, Enkidu fought by Gilgamesh's side, regardless of how he thought the outcome might have been. He was the underlying reason for Gilgamesh being as successful as he was. Enkidu's presence and loss alters Gilgamesh throughout the book (Wolf, 392). The love they feel for each other can be interpreted different, everyone is free to imagin |

My Trip to the Eiffle TowerOver the summer of my junior year my parents and I got to go to Europe. We traveled all over; we went to Germany, Italy, Austria, Bavaria and France. Every place was wonderful in its own different way. My favorite place was Paris, it was so beautiful! There we were standing in line with thousands of people while the sun was setting. There was a nice breeze until we walked closer to the entrance and stood behind a plastic wall shielding us from the breeze. The entrance was the front right leg of the Eiffel tower. Right before we got on the elevator the lights had turned on, making the Eiffel tower brighter than any other building in France. We were next to get on, I had never been this excited about anything in my life before! My family and I and 50 other people got on |

Aristotle and VirtueAristotle emphasis over and over again that a virtuous agent always acts virtuously, whereas a virtuous action does not always necessarily reflect a virtuous agent. What does Aristotle mean by virtue? How can it be attained? Explain in detail what this statement is exactly suggesting. To what extent do you agree what Aristotle is saying? Humans and animals live and share the same planet and share common features even though they are different species. However there is a characteristic that sets humans and animals apart and which is distinctively human which is our ability to reason. As Aristotle explains in Book 1, each and every person is on a search to find Eudaimonia. Everyone has the potential to be Eudaimonic and Aristotle explains that one must actualize his potential to be Eudaimonic by doing virtuous actions. Virtue is the instrument humans use to reach Eudaimonia. A virtue according to Aristotle, is a trait that makes an action of a certain kind good. Each and every action has an end and one does virtuous acts to reach the ultimate end. A virtuous person does virtuous actions effortlessly and doing virtuous actions becomes second nature to them. America and No Child Left BehindAll these programs like "No Child Left Behind" and "Head start were created to help students succeed academically. Programs such as these have fallen behind in helping educate children. Mostly minority children fall behind other students, not only on an academic level but also on a social and thought level. For example there was study done where a four year old child was placed in the head start program for about 6 months and the child could only identify two more letters than other children with the same background. Head start was also lacking in children's motivation to learn and social skills, for example interacting with peers and teachers. With all these programs other countries such as Singapore and Finland manage to be leading in education more than the United States. In Singapore math classes are taught with fewer subjects in the curriculum but are taught more in depth, giving the students more of a chance to retain the material then learning part of a subject one day a |

Mobile Gaming and Pay-To-PlayThe topic that I would like to address is the changing mobile gaming industry. Lately, many games that are at the top of the app store charts are games like Candy Crush, Simpsons Tapped Out, and Clash of Clans, which are free to play, but make it far too easy to spend exorbitant amounts of money on a game that involves very little from players aside from dedicating large amounts of time to the game. The mobile gaming industry's steady move towards pay-to-play, freemium business models are maximizing profits while marginalizing player experience, leaving consumers with little choice for mobile entertainment. With the way these games work, the player has 2 options: they can either wait out the time constraints of the game to upgrade various structures or regain lives, or players can pay to speed up this process, with fees ranging from $1 to $100 for extra hearts, treasures, or other perks. Within the game, this creates a class system of haves and have-nots, those who can afford to speed up the upgrade process and perform better, and those who are unable or unwilling to spend money on the game and do not do as well in the game. |

Censorship in ChinaChinese government has always tried to keep a tight restriction on traditional and currently updated media. This is to ensure that there is no protest to any of its political authority. Media is controlled through monitor systems, publication website cancellations, and even imprisonment for journalists and internet bloggers. Google was a website that battled internet censorship with the Chinese government. The government is forcing the general Chinese public to accept censorship, and it is obvious that the Chinese are eager to find out information. Fortunately, media coverage in China is more diverse than ever before because of their growing economy that is flourishing better than ever before. I believe the Chinese's growing number of questions against their government will reduce some censorship, giving the public partial clarity over this issue. Although, the government control circulating within China is too instilled to ever disappear. Chinese authorities, officially in Beijing, |

Neuroligical Condition - SynesthesiaTo Bob, a symphony concert doesn't just sound like a blissful masterpiece, it also tastes like a cup of hot apple cider. For Elaine, whenever her family sits down to a nice steak dinner, she doesn't just taste the feast set before her, she sees a gorgeous palette of colors sweeping across her mind's eye. In the case of Sam, a gifted mathematician, the numbers he sees on the page not only represent a numerical value and quantity, but they also possess a personality trait that a human may possess such as generosity or arrogance. If while reading any of these scenarios and they didn't make much sense to you, then there is a pretty good chance that you do not have a puzzling and fascinating neurological condition known as synesthesia. If you are reading this and these scenarios sound like your average Tuesday, then you should probably read this paper carefully because it is likely you are a synesthete, or a person affected by synesthesia. The Chimney Sweeper by William Blake"The Chimney Sweeper" was a poem written by William Blake in 1789. Blake delivers this short poem in a heartfelt way. He uses poor living conditions and endangerment as open arms for children that were sold at a young age and were made to become chimney sweepers. Blake's poem was written in first person and shows three main literary devices; irony, symbolism, and point of view. The reader overcomes heartbreak, gains faith, and accepts the challenges that life gives him because he knows that it will be alright in the end. Blake uses irony when he was speaking in first person. Irony is defined as when the writer says one thing but simply means another. He starts the poem off telling the audience that his mother died when he was a young child and at that same time, he stated that "his father sold me". Saying that the boy "cried weep, weep, weep" instead of saying "sweep" implies that he was too young to talk or work. How count this be? Children w |

Diffusion Through a Semi-Permeable MembraneIntroduction The Aim of this investigation is to observe diffusion through a semi-permeable membrane Is to record to rate of osmosis a process by which molecules of a solvent tend to pass through a semipermeable membrane from a less concentrated solution into a more concentrated one, until an overall concentration is reached through a semi- permeable membrane called diffusion. The hypothesis is that the diffusion of glucose will intensify with a larger concentration gradient. In this situation the independent variable the different concentrations of glucose cause an effect on the dependent variable which is the level of glucose. The Independent variable is the different concentration of glucose 10%, 20%, 30%. Sideline and Competitive CheerleadingMost say that cheerleading isn't a sport, but I am about to tell you the difference. There's cheerleading for the football and basketball teams which is basically just for fun. Honestly when people say cheering isn't a sport I tell them that sideline, which is when you cheer for football, isn't a sport but when you compete, others and I consider it a sport. Everything you do no matter what sport it is, you should have fun doing it. Friday night games are when you go out there and perform your best for you, your team, and your audience. Cheering for your school football team is the best feeling ever when you can you just be able to go out there and cheer on your team. Being a cheerleader, you are usually the football team's number one supporter because you will always be behind them 100 percent win or lose. A cheerleader pretty much represent the school; you are expected to have the most school spirit and represent your school with pride. Characters in Their Eyes Were Watching GodZora Neale Hurston was an American folklorist, anthropologist, and author. Of Hurston's four novels and more than 50 published short stories, plays, and essays, she is best known for her 1937 novel Their Eyes Were Watching God. Rosie the Riveter's Impact on Feminism"Rosie the Riveter," an inspiring and iconic painting by Norman Rockwell, is a breathtaking example of feminism in the Industrial Age. "Rosie the Riveter" is an amazing painting that represents American women who stayed behind during World War II. They worked in the factories to produce munitions and war supplies while their male counterparts went to war. "Rosie the Riveter" was the icon that encouraged women and challenged industry to hire more women, to realize that women could do the same quality of work that men could. This oil painting is a good example of feminism. "Rosie the Riveter" makes a strong statement of women's economic power and shows the world what women can accomplish in hard times, along with managing a household. "Rosie the Riveter" is a prime example of reinforcement of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men. There are a lot of similar images of amazing working woman during war times all over the world. Norman Rockwell captured essences of the collective effort that would become epochal throughout America during the war. &q |

Living Day by Day with DeniseIt is summer 2013. The sun is shining up high in the blue sky. All I can hear is children`s heavy footsteps running back and forth on to the cracking floor. Then I see a beautiful face coming to my door. A 5'4" figure with curly hair and light brown eyes coming my way. She has a soccer ball in her hand and she is saying, "I think that ball is your brother's". My mind just blanked out and all I can say to her is hi. That was the moment I met the person who would change my life forever. A week went by since my first encounter with Denise. I would say good morning or good afternoon every time we made contact over my cement wall. Denise would always get nervous and start to blush when I would look at her. As I stood there having long conversations with her, all I could think was that she was perfect. Everyone around the block tried to get to know her but gave up. It did not matter how good your game was, she was never interested. My feelings for her started to grow so strong tha |

Why Zoos are UnethicalBeing imprisoned is one of the worst experiences a human may undergo. It necessarily does not have to be in a maximum facility prison - being imprisoned may be just a situation whereby one's freedom is restricted and those in charge control the prisoner's freedom. In this paper I am going to prove that zoos are unethical to animals. This is by using various pieces of evidence to support this opinion. First of all, where do the animals in zoos come from? Without pondering much, these animals come straight from the wild, which is their natural habitat. In the wild, the animals have freedom to exist as nature dictates. Once taken into zoos, the animals lose their freedom as they are actually in captivity. This goes without saying that zoos serve as ani |
