Mystery and Conflict in An Inspector CallsMystery plays are one of my favorite things to watch, under Netflix. These plays keep my brain thinking about the situation and what will come next; they have plot twists every time you think you've figured it out. When I went to see An Inspector Calls, I had no idea what it was about or what I was getting myself into. My attention was on every single detail from start to finish. The theme wasn't clear until about the end of the play, where the inspector starts talking about how treating people around you is important. (You never know what role you'll have in their death.) The conflicts in this play were all over the place. The ones that most caught my eyes were Man vs. Man (Mr. Goole vs. everyone in the family), Man vs. Man (Eric Birling vs. his parents), and another Man vs. Man (Sheila Birling vs. Gerald.) In this play, the theme was basically stated towards the end. As Goole, the inspector, was leaving, he started talking about how actions have consequences and how all people are |

Technological Progress in Brave New WorldThe world in Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" has one goal: technological progress. The morals and aspirations of the society are not those of our society today - such as family, love, and success - but instead are focused around industry, economy, and technologic growth and improvement. The citizens are not concerned with themselves as individuals; they have been conditioned to see the world as a collective and technologically oriented. This society is one which Neil Postman, the author of Technopoly: The Surrender of Culture to Technology, would consider a 'Technopoly.' But Postman also perceives cultures in the world today to be nearing this socio-technologic status. What can be seen about Brave New World and its comments on technological advancements as well as their effects in society, when we examine it from the perspective of Postman's Technopoly? The medical advancements in Huxley's novel and its concepts of educational standardization carry drastic similarities to society tod |

When Juveniles Are Charged as AdultsAs citizens of the United States, we are taught that the criminal justice system was created to ensure justice for crimes committed and for the protection of our communities. Everyone is also taught that the criminal justice system was created to ensure rights of both offender and victim and that punishments are to be equal and fair. As Americans we are not educated on the juvenile justice system, or how juvenile delinquents are processed. The current criminal justice system that is used in the United States allows juvenile offenders to be convicted, tried and sentenced as adults for certain crimes. The laws need to be reevaluated, and changed, to ensure that the primary focus regarding juveniles is rehabilitation rather than incarceration. The first juvenile courts were established in 1899, and the idea behind creating the juvenile court was to substitute treat and care for punishment of delinquent youths (Juvenile Law). The main concerns for the new juvenile courts involved the |

Implementing Radical Health InitiativesHealth is about the overall physical, social, spiritual and mental well being of a person. In the 1980s the World Health Organisation (WHO) defined health as "a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity' There can be no absolute fixed 'objective' definition of health, genetics, culture, society, community, circumstance, education, time and place can also be seen to impact upon the perception of health, which is mainly subjective. Various factors influence and affect an individual's health and can often be related. Genetic factors that are heredity, can increase the probability of contracting chronic conditions. For example, Sickle cell anaemia is a serious inherited blood disorder where red blood cells, develop abnormally. Normal red blood cells are flexible and disc-shaped, but in sickle cell anaemia they can can become rigid and shaped like a crescent (or sickle). The sickle-shaped cells block blood vessels |

Education and Affirmative ActionAffirmative action is perhaps one of the most heavily debated topics within companies and college admission offices. The steps taken to ensure that minorities are represented in college and the workplace can overstep boundaries and begin to cross into reverse discrimination. However, a balanced approach towards affirmative action can be effective if implemented well. Through the examination of various sources and opinions, a wide array of positions on this critical topic can be found. It is very important that American companies and colleges continue to take steps to protect racial equality well into the future. Over the years, the American perspective towards affirmative action has fluctuated dramatically. While during the 1960s and 70s affirmative action was critical to overcome racial barriers, since that time period the positive effects of affirmative action have lessened. In Source A, the drop in African Americans who are being admitted to California colleges is shown. The |

Uluru - Landmark of Great SignificanceIntroduction Uluru is often described as one of the most impressive natural wonders in Australia [2] and also tourism industry's pinup icon, [5] due to its unprecedented popularity among tourists from the whole world. Because of this description, which appears often in many books, the question arises: If, and if yes, then why is Uluru so important to Australians and even to people from other countries? It seems to be just another huge rock. In this work I would like to prove that Uluru is actually a landmark of great importance considering its general features and significance for the local tribe which together with the Australian government manage the place. I would also like to put particular emphasis on Uluru as an incessant tourist attraction. 1. Uluru 1.1 General information Uluru/Ayers Rock is a red monolith, the weathered peak of a buried mountain range, situated in the southwestern part of the Northern Territory. Womanhood in LeAnne Howe's Shell ShakerWomanhood is an important theme in LeAnne Howe's Shell Shaker. We see the women in this novel portraying the role of a man, taking on the responsibilities of a man, leading the household, and representing themselves as the strong women of their time. Shell Shaker perfects a vivid image of women then and now and how they can be more than just housewives, but be leaders, role models, providers, and hard working class women. These women are not just portrayed as men, but warriors, hardworking women who take on the duties and obligations of the household as that of a man. In the opening chapter "Blood Sacrifice,"" we see Shakbatina a shell shaker of her kind retelling the story of how her grandmother the first shell shaker helped her husband fight against the threat against the people of their land. She says, "She built a fire and she strapped the empty shells of turtles around each ankle. She didn't sing aloud because she was afraid the children would hear her sorrow in her voice, so sh |

The Fallacy of Race and Modern TyrannyIntroduction Despite the erroneous origins of the term race and its modern usurpation by advanced studies in biological anthropology, American society at large (and elsewhere) and mental health professionals continue to place great cultural and psychological value on the term. The main dilemma facing the scientific community today seems to be the experimental deficiency of the term race (as a physiologically empty distinction) and its widespread cultural instrumentality. It is maintained in this paper that the current usage of the term race, as perpetuated by clients, professionals, and systems in the mental health profession, is outdated, misleading, and sometimes destructive. The Historical Development of the Term Race We are all familiar with the dangerous capacity of the term race to be used for manipulation and bigotry - when some men champion their race as superior and others inferior. The Nazi's under Hitler engaged in perpetuating this perverted ideology, claiming the white r |

African American's in the 1900'sAfrican-Americans found themselves in a time of turmoil and discrimination even in the 1900's after the Reconstruction Era, the Civil Rights Act of 1866, and the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments made post-Union win of the Civil War. They were underprivileged compared to the white Americans in many areas such as political, economical, and social situations. Subject to violence, segregation, lack of opportunity, and political disadvantages, blacks in the USA during this time had no option but to either fight back for their rights or accept their inequality. Socially, African-American's faced countless examples of discrimination. De jure segregation, also known as legal segregation, in the south made their inequality physically visible in a day-to-day setting. Jim Crow laws, passed in ~1887-1915, made sure of legal segregation in areas of public transport (i.e. busses), churches, theaters, parks, beaches, and schools were enforced by governments and the Supreme Court enabled this by ruling them as not breeching the 14th Am |

The Chinese Communist Party (CCP)Regarding the fact that in China, the current official ideology of communism is quickly losing its credit in the public, one may expect possible political and ideolocial reforms in the country. However the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) never clearly indicates that if it intends to loosen control for the potential reforms. In this essay, I will first discuss the relevance of a reform that is pressed by the Chinese people. In this part I will provide examination of the political awareness of the Chinese in terms of different groups, followed by the analysis of possible governmental countermeasures. Second I will discuss the possibility of a new legitimate ideology, by analyzing the feasibility of ideological alternatives. Possibility of a Pressed Reform To examine the possibility of a reform that is pressed by the people upon the current communist government of China, we must first analyze the extent of political awareness of Chinese people. Mexico and Haiti - The Road to IndependenceDid you ever think of the way countries were created? How can all territories be considered nations or countries, when each one is so different from the rest? The answer is simple, most countries were created within the same time but each one had its own path to independence. The Haitian, Mexican, and most Latin American revolutions were inspired by the Enlightenment ideas. These ideas encouraged the Americans of revolting against the English (1783) in order to become a nation. After the Americans had a successful revolution, the French decided to raze the absolute monarchy and redesign their country's political system (1789), in search of democracy, nationalism, and equal rights for all. When the Latin American colonies saw that such thing was possible, they all started to organize themselves to burst into a revolution that struck for independence. Haiti, a French slave colony was the first to follow the United States to Independence, through the Haitian Revolution (1791-1804 |

The History of AnkletsIntroduction Thru the history many great emperors led their empires through war and peace. But now, it is women's turn. Many great empresses, princess, queens have ornamented history. Through the golden ages of art, years of war women have changed the history of ornamenting themselves in various ways like surface ornamentation and jewelry. Through the ages women is known for her purity and character, which is real, ornament for her to wear. Basing on this, I had chosen anklets as my topic. There are many other ornaments or different types of cultural trends to choose from but for me anklets are the ornaments that are trend and traditional. In history, the word anklet doesn't have proper derivation where it came from but it is a twinkling ornament to decorate feet, seen in use in Egypt, Europe and South Asia. Mainly women wear anklets, but history says that they are rare cases it was seen on men. Anklets are not only decorative but also meaningful in some places like India. In present |

Siddhartha - Perpetual BecomingThe story of Siddhartha's life is not only one of the inner-chaos that emptiness may be, the constant desire for something that is just out of reach, and the burden that true wisdom can be, but also love, rebirth, and true understanding of ones self. Siddhartha exemplifies the importance of having both good and bad times in order to reach a truly fulfilling life. It also explains the notion that no two people can follow the same path or experience the same things in order to reach, or find, true enlightenment. Siddhartha, like most, encounters many challenges and learning experiences, including things like emaciation, bacchanalianism, avarice, depression, and learning that he has a child. Combined, these challenges and experiences aid him in becoming what he must to reach true enlightenment. In Siddharthas journey to Nirvana, the most profound people and events in his life start with his upbringing as the Brahmins son, his experiences as a father, and the river. For years now, there ha |

Cinderella Literary AnalysisAfter reading the Brothers Grim version of Cinderella and viewing the film version of Cinderella, Everafter, one can distinguish precise differences between the these two similar stories. The plot in this timeless classic has been used as a model for writers for countless generations. For years the story has been refined and reworked, whether as The Brothers Grimm's "Cinderella." or the most recent version, Ever After: A Cinderella Story, a film by Andy Tennant. This version has a realistic element, which is to be more modernized and relatable to what could happen to someone today. Compared to the Brothers Grimm version which is more of a tall tale, or something that is too good to be true. Both stories tell of a young damsel whose mother passed away when she was young and is then harassed by her stepmother and her two evil stepsisters who basically make her a servant her in her own home and force her life to be dreadful. Yet, both versions differ significantly when it comes to the con |

Who Am I? The Value Being MyselfA lot of people say that I have a good sense of style; in fact, my peers voted me as "best dressed" my senior year. I've never been a person to just wake up and go somewhere. I like to make myself look nice because I think "if you look good, you feel good." I'm really OCD about my hair so it always has to be done. However, there are times when I don't try as hard, for example, when I go to the gym. I believe I am different from most people because of this; a lot of people are usually too tired in the morning to make themselves look presentable. Although, there are those people that roll out of bed in the morning and look perfect. Unfortunatley, I am not one of those lucky people. I have a very large variety of hobbies. My absolute favorite thing to do is work out. Ever since sixth grade, I've always had a passion for working out because it was something my dad and I could do together. However, I really enjoy hanging out with my friends and family, whether it's just watching tv or sitting around b |

The Basics of Effective ParenthoodBeing a parent takes up a lot of responsibilities in caring for your child. Before the child arrives, I believe that you must prepare yourself. It is important that you are financially stable in order to get your child their life needs such as food, formula, and diapers. In addition, you should be emotionally prepared in order to discipline your child when they do something wrong. Furthermore, you should be professional so your child can grow up and be surrounded by a good environment. Three requirements for parenthood are financial stability, emotional stability, and professionalism. Financial stability is a significant importance for parenthood. Without the right amount of money, you won't be able support your child with daily life needs. For instance, a baby/child needs food to survive as well as formula and/or milk. In addition, they need diapers and toiletries such ass baby wipes, soap, and toothpaste to keep up with their healthy hygiene. Another reason why financial stability is important for parenthood is for when |

Critical Assessment - Evolution Vs. GodThe Evolution vs God movie is a short video in which Ray Comfort walks up to random people on what appears to be a college campus, it is never made clear, and asks them questions about evolution. The video does not seem to be a very well thought out video. There is a lot of talking and it is never really made clear as to what Comfort is trying to achieve with his questions. The audience is left to assume that he was trying to point out that believing in evolution requires some amount of faith in itself. The video defiantly accomplishes this goal if that was indeed the goal of his video. However the hostility and overall air of superiority was making the interviewees very uncomfortable and they had trouble making their case. Comfort also made it a habit to snatch away the mic from them while they are talking, and editing out responses they made. Despite the methods he employed in the video the point was made, a little bit |

Movie Summary - One Year in the Life of CrimeIt is interesting to see how many people get lost into the television watching the randomness of different shows. So many people get entertained by the easiest things, the good thing is that from some episodes of shows I guess you can learn a thing or two from it. What television really needs to show is this film One Year in the Life of Crime. This movie is an extreme eye opener and it really gets the audience hooked into watching the whole thing. This movie shows you all of the downfalls that drug abuse can have. This film is one of the most accurate in describing the life of a criminal and ones that are particularly addicted to certain drugs. The people in this film Rob, Fred, and Mike all know that what they do is wrong and they discourage other people from ever doing it, yet they themselves find it extremely hard to leave behind that way of life that they have grown accustomed to. It is saddening to see people actively throwing their lives away to such idiotic things. All of these |

A Sense of Control - The Fault In Our StarsThere are a large amount of films that are a result of directors bringing the image of a novel to life in a film. This is exactly what director Josh Boone does with John Greens novel The Fault In Our Stars. The novel and film contain only a few differences. Both the film and novel contain the story of main characters, Hazel Grace Lancaster and Augustus Water who fall in love after meeting at a cancer support group. Another one of the many similarities between the two are the symbols. Both the film and the novel draw focus to Augustuss cigarettes. The symbolism of Augustuss unlit cigarettes is present throughout Josh Boones film The Fault In Our Stars; he draws viewers attention to the cigarettes through the use of different methods such as placing value on the cigarettes by the use of a character, repetition, special visual emphasis, and musical emphasis. Boone uses these methods to draw focus to the unlit cigarettes and their significance, which symbolize a sense of control and securi |

Living My Life - One Lesson at a TimeCollege is very important to me because I will be the first in my immediate family to get a higher education. Deciding on a college and a career has been a challenge for me because I want to become so many things in life, but I had to narrow down my options to only one college and career that I really want. Whichever college and career I choose, I know that I am going to be a successful person in life. So I have chosen to attend UTA this fall. I am really excited to start my new life and journey on my own. Starting at a new school was scary, but there was one challenge I was not ready for. Her name was Lorena. The day I came to UTA and started unpacking all my belongings in my dorm room was the day I knew my life was about o change. I wasn't going to be surrounded by my family anymore and I was moving in with a stranger that I didn't even know anything about. Wh |

The Dogs of CommunicationThis paper starts evaluating the most basic concepts of communication, from nonverbal communication to more complex terms. It is the context of teams that will best allow me to evaluate the movie due to the encounters of big groups of people that are portrayed in the film. Through out this paper, I will identify and evaluate different concepts of communication giving examples from the movie Reservoir Dogs by Quentin Tarantino. Reservoir Dogs, is a film about a group of 6 professional thieves who are brought together to rob a jewelry store. In order to insure no one get to know their peers that well, the leader names them by color. Its a heist film, but the heist has gone wrong. During the robbery, we find out that one of the thieves, Mr. Orange, is an undercover police officer. The whole film is spent setting it up and then trying to figure out where it went wrong, and who is to blame. Iago in William Shakespeare's OthelloShakespeare creates the character of Iago as the villain of the play. Iago is the driving force of the plot behind the scenes in Act 1 as he manipulates the other characters, particularly Roderigo, and formulates schemes throughout the first act. In the first scene of the play Iago is complaining about not having received the promotion to lieutenant that he felt he deserved. Therefore we immediately see that he is a negative character and Shakespeare portrays him as having a disagreeable persona. We also discover that Iago "hast had my (Roderigo's) purse", that Roderigo has given him free reign over his personal wealth and Iago has let Roderigo down as he has been hiding something from him. However, we have been placed in medias res and are unaware of what "this" is that Iago has been hiding. Thus begins the development of the idea that Iago is untrustworthy and a schemer. Another piece of information that we learn is the social status that Iago claims to hold. H |

Spoken Word and Language CommunicationWe all use spoken word in conjunction with body language to communicate with others. Language is at the core of every relationship. Language is the key to all human evolution, without it there would be no form of communication. Language is the highest form of thought expression. Language shapes our understanding of the world we live in. Language and words affect every individual's behavior differently. In the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary, Language is defined as "the words, their pronunciation, and the methods of combining them used and understood by a community." Merriam-Webster also defines language as "a form or manner of verbal expression." Not communicating results in no evolution of human interaction. This is the reason why the absence of language is detrimental to communication. As humans, we thrive on interaction and communication through verbal expression. Humans also use body language, gestures, and symbols to communicate with each other. Languag |

Overview of the IKEA CompanyThe business concept of IKEA involves selling high volume of the furniture products in low prices. Moreover, "with an aim of lowering prices across its entire offering by an average of 2% to 3% each year, its signature feature is the flat packed product that customers assemble at home, thus reducing transportation costs" (IKEA). The vision of the company reflects its strategy, which is "to create a better everyday life of many people. We make this possible by offering a wide range of well-designed, functional home furnishing products at prices so low that as many people as possible will be able to afford them" (IKEA). IKEA was founded in 1943 by 17-year-old Ingvar Kamprad (Heidi Owens). IKEA was first opened in Sweden. Kamprad's strategy was to design furniture that was easy for men to build and not expensive. Their target market is the young generation and the middle class families. The first issue is a high flow of visitors at one-time which result in the lack |
