The Action of LeadershipLeadership is defined as the "action of leading a group of people or an organization." A leader is capable of influencing and inspiring the people around him or her to voluntarily commit towards accomplishing a certain goal. Being just a member of the Eagle Pride has taught me to broaden my view of success and lower the thought of selfishness. When I look back to my freshman and sophomore year, I think of the many times I found myself living in selfishness and disrespect. Over this past year and a half, I have discovered and learned that it is simply not about "I" but about the comradery of the group. I also think of the lessons I have learned about being a part of a group and putting needs of others above yourself. I have been honored to have the extremely rewarding feeling that comes with being a part of a group; especially a group like the Eagle Pride that plays music, performs a show and tells a story at the same as it tes |

Guns in SchoolsNowadays, weapons are not only uses to defend the country, but also used for campus violence. In 2011, the Texas state legislature passed a new law to allow around thirty-eight public college students and teachers to bring guns to school. Which means that five hundred thousand of students who enrolled in these schools are now able to bring guns to school. Although the relationship between schools and guns is more acceptable, it is never a good idea for students to go to school with guns. First of all, to allow students to bring guns to school not only threatens the security of single student who always get bully by others, but also other students who study at school. According to the online American CBC reported, 8.6% of students who have been bullied will bring guns to the campus, but 4.6% of students will bring weapons even though they have never been threatened. Some students would like to be a "hero pretender"; they bring guns to classroom, restaurant, library and many public places even though they do not feel under threat. If those guns get discharged accidentally, it will cause an irretrievable mistake, which is complete |

Sports Participation for Disabled Young PeopleIntroduction It is a well-acknowledged and accepted belief that physical activity brings benefits to psychosocial health, functional ability and quality of life in general (Janssen & LeBlanc, 2010, p. 2). Amongst physical activities, sports, aerobics, running, or gym work, are areas towards which efforts are directed for increasing the activity levels of the population (Allender et al. 2006, p. 827). Despite these efforts for young people in general, surveys and other evidence reveal that disabled young people are still significantly less active as compared to their non-disabled peers. This applies both within a school PE curriculum context and a community setting. The focus of this report is to provide the Liverpool local authority with an analysis of the issues and identification of the best means for increasing the involvement of young disabled people in school-based PE and sport. Analysis of the specific issues faced by disabled young people that affect their ability of participa |

Cambodia, Laos and Communist ChinaAfter World War One or also known as "the Great War" Cambodia and Laos became countries. The European countries had to rebuild their countries because of the damage done during the war. They could no longer maintain their colonies that they had before "the Great War" happened which cost them many. The United Nations declared that the once ruled European countries had the right to self-rule. Indochina is made up of many countries but Cambodia and Laos are different then most of them. Cambodia and Laos are the same in many ways. Cambodia and Laos' quest for independence has come from internal conflict within each country and with the influence of Communism from Vietnam as well as the anti-communist influence from the United States and England. Independence and the Rise of Leadership Cambodia and Laos are two countries near China and Vietnam. After World War II they were both fighting with and influenced by Vietnam and China. Cambodia became independent on November |

The Road Not Taken and Take Me As I Am"The Road Not Taken" and "Take Me As I Am" In the poem, "The Road Not Taken" by Robert Frost, individualism is set in the reader's minds. "Take Me As I Am" by Mary J. Blige is a song that also has individualism presented. Both pieces symbolize the freedom of an individual to choose the path they want. The result of which way is correct can only be decided on oneself. No matter what the choice is, one should make the best out of it. "The Road Not Taken" summarizes that the speaker is standing in front of two roads and they split. Both of the roads were equally walked on. He chooses a path and decides to take the other one another day but he doubts that he will have the chance to come back because he does not know what he will encounter. He took the road less traveled by and it changed his life. "Take Me As I Am" talks about the writer who has experienced the good and the bad but she has no regrets. She stays strong if people try to put her down. When she is older, she became wiser and she does not need anyone to tell her what to do and say. She is confident in herself and |

Genetics and environment appear to play a big part in the development of schizophrenia, along with psychological and social processes. This disorder is treatable, and treatment includes antipsychotic medication, counseling, and social rehabilitation. Involuntary hospitalization may be necessary in cases where there is risk of self-harm or harm to others. Symptoms often manif |

Watching a Ballet CompetitionMy fingers tremble as I apply the pink blusher to my face. "Contestant number 405! You're up next!" a distant voice shouts, beckoning to another competitor in the dressing room. Eyes trained on my reflection, I refuse to look at my surroundings but am subconsciously aware of the other competitors staring me down, sizing me up. Makeup complete, I slip on my leg warmers over my pointe shoes and proceed to the holding room. Plugging in my earphones, I turn on my workout playlist and start warming up my tense muscles. Music pumping through my veins, I converge into my own little world that revolves around no one else, only me. The day has finally come for me to show the judges what I have been practicing so hard for, day and night, for these two minutes onstage. The pressure for perfection is at an all-time high. My reflection smiles back at me in the floor to ceiling mirrors in the holding room, just enough to assure myself that I am ready. At a ballet competition, one would be |

Disenchantment of the LawThe term disenchantment in a philosophical context was first conceived by Max Weber when he described Western society as being in a state of gradual 'disenchantment'. The term then had a profound impact on social theory which then spread to the study of law and jurisprudence (Blank, 2011: 635). The impact of disenchantment in a general sense can be seen throughout the social domain in all territories of human activity (Blank, 2011: 636). This can be seen in its simultaneous impact on science, economy, art, and politics as well on sexuality (Blank, 2011: 637). All these realms of human activity have progressively become disconnected from religion and the godly. What is meant by this is that they have all become secularized (Blank, 2011: 637). It is seen as a process that firstly affects religion. Magic and revelation are not considered to be the only avenues through which salvation can be achieved. Instead, they have been reduced to being heretical and superstitious (Blank, 201 |

Personal Narrative - A Cat Named MerryWill your pet try to tell you when they feel hungry? Animals always try to "talk" with people even though they do not know how to speak. Previously, I thought house pets only need to listen to their master and enjoy all the things that their masters provide them, but I changed my mind when I met this intelligent cat, that clearly knows what she wants. When I was in Canada, the city that I lived named Oakville, which was peaceful and easeful. And the people who lived there liked to walk around the lake after dinner. I chose to stay in a homestay nearby my college. The house I lived was not quite big, but sweet. I heard from the master that they had an old cat named Merry before I moved there. I was really excited, because I love cats very much. They are docile and persuadable. Fortunately, the room that I lived in is the place where Merry loves to stay. She likes to creep up to my bed and jump up; after finding a comfortable place she will sleep for the |

Jungian Archetypes of Mary DempsterThroughout the novel Fifth Business by Robertson Davies, the protagonist, Dunstan Ramsay, maintains a periodic relationship with Mary Dempster. Davies, who was highly influenced by Jungian Archetypes, introduces them in her character, identify her as "The Fool Saint". Examples of this are found reformed the tramp Joel Surgeoner, tried saving Willie Ramsay by bringing him back to life briefly, and appeared to be an illusion when Dunstan was hurt. From the moment Mary Dempster is introduced in the first part the novel, it is clear there was a development of being civil. Mary Dempster does not look what she appears to be after the birth of Paul Dempster, but she shows her moralistic side between right and wrong. To be helpless is what influenced her characteristics. As Mary progresses through the novel, she establishes why she had sex with Joel, "he was very civil and he wanted it |

Syria, Realists and Barack ObamaOf the many responsibilities laid upon a nation's leader, those involving international affairs tend to hold the most weight. In the case of Syria's use of chemical weapons against its own people, President Obama was placed in a difficult position. With the notion of turning a blind eye being all but out of the question, the "correct" form of intervention quickly became a very heated topic between different schools of diplomatic thought. In his address to the UN General Assembly on September 10, 2013, President Obama explained his justifications for any potential intervention in Syria. Although the casual listener might have wholeheartedly agreed with Obama's approach, Realists and Buddhists would have very different critiques of his perspective. A Realist would be frustrated by Obama's call to take action based on ethics, not our nation's self-interest, while a Buddhist would be distressed by the President's lightly veiled threat to use military force as well as any possible |

Factory Production, Railroads and MiningBetween the end of the Civil War and the early twentieth century, the United States underwent one of the most rapid and profound economic revolutions any country has ever experienced1. It has to be noticed that the United States has a greatly expanding economy in 19 centuries due to the industrialization. Once Eric Foner said that, "The rapid expansion of factory production, mining and railroad construction in all parts of the country. Americans of the late nineteenth century marveled at the triumph of the new economy."2 As far as people concerned, factory production, railroads and mining are the three of the most important industries pushed the economy of the United States during the industrial expansion. Behind the prosperities of those three, there are several significantly thrusts pushing them become the support of United States' economy, which were the industrial technology, immigration and self-interest. Imperial PresidentsMany presidents live behind the shadow of one before them. Living by the thought of since one president did something while they were in office AND succeeded, then they were doing something right and try to repeat that same idea in order for the same successful outcome. But sometimes that idea can fail miserably and can be shameful to the president's title while in office. The people look to the president for guidance and direction. We're taught to trust in the president, but what if he has a different agenda that we don't know about? From Washington being one of the best presidents to Richard Nixon abusing of his power by wiretapping, we take a look into the background of each presidents' presidency, and discover what the motives were behind each decision that was made; whether they were good or bad, or successful or ended up in a loss. The consequence of Roosevelt's "arrogation of power" (pg. 97) in the executive via executive activism was a major factor of what Arthur Sc |

Advertising During the Super BowlWho does not talk about Super Bowl Ads the day after Super Bowl? Every year, millions of viewers from around the world turn on their televisions to watch one of the most exciting events in sports the Super Bowl. Super Bowls have been all time most watched television events in United States; networks are able to sell precious seconds of airtime to large companies for millions of dollars. As we move into the 21st century, publicity for the game's commercials has come to rival that of the game itself. Since its beginning, the Super Bowl has drawn top sponsor dollars and high television ratings. There are some honorable mentions when the Super Bowl advertising game started. In 1973, Master Lock first ran an advertisement demonstrating the strength of its locks, by having a person shoot it with a gun in a failed attemp |

Sympathy For MacbethReading through William Shakespeare's tragic play, Macbeth, one will find it strangely amusing how much sympathy is given to a murderous, ruthless couple. William Shakespeare cleverly keeps the sympathy towards Macbeth by describing Macbeth's hesitancy to kill King Duncan, how delusional and crazy he becomes after the murder of the king and Banquo, and his reaction to Lady Macbeth's suicide. Sympathy is shown to Macbeth because of his unwilling actions to murder King Duncan. For example, Macbeth originally stopped his plan and said to Lady Macbeth, "We will proceed no further in this business:He hath honored me of late, and I have bought/ Golden opinions from all sorts of people,Which would be worn now/Not cast aside so soon." (I, vii, 31-34) This shows that Macbeth backed out on his plans, but it was Lady Macbeth who had to persuade him to bring his own words and dreams to life. This creates a level of sympathy because Macbeth was only doing the deed to prove his manliness to his strong, independent wife. Another example is when Ma |

England and the Victorian EraThe Victorian Era develops during the reign of Queen Victoria and ends with her death, which was between 1837 and 1901. It is characterized by rapid growth and extreme change in politics, literature, science, social class, and economy. It was a time of great innovation and reform not only in social status but ideals as well. The Victorian Era started with optimism yet ended with uncertainty in Britain's place in the world. It is different from other time periods because it includes several different periods within itself. For example, one of the biggest shifts was from the time of prosperity to a time of destitution and starvation. The Victorian Era also included a period of imperialism and a time of social reform. All of it starts with the birth of Queen Victoria. Queen Victoria was the most memorable leader out of the English monarchs. She embodied characteristics that some defined the Victorian Era with: earnestness, moral responsibility, and domestic propriety. Finally named |

Conflicts of Surrogate MotherhoodSurrogate Motherhood: Potential Conflicts Cannot Be Ignored Anton van Niekerk and Liezl van Zyl aim to address the moral issues of surrogacy by comparing it with prostitution. They ask whether it reduces women's reproductive labor to a form of alienated and/or dehumanized labor. They claim that surrogacy is not similar to prostitution: women's reproductive labor is distinguished from other forms of physical labor because the product is a child, not an object, and it involves social and psychological process of both the surrogate and the commissioning parents in expecting the child (346,347). Thus, they conclude that surrogacy could be moral only if the surrogate is a relative or close friend of the commissioning parents, and "continues to play an active role in the child's life as a 'second mother'" (348). Because only when this condition is obtained, will the surrogate's labor not be alienated or dehumanized, and will the commissioning parents not lose the child. |

Puritanism in The CrucibleSin. To the Puritan something must be done to wipe as much of it off the planet. Despite how severe it was sin is sin, Puritanism is best described as a religion with strict rules, which punished all sin because of the different branches that it could affect in the colony. The Puritan society had three major associations, which was the society and culture, the religion and spirituality. According to Edmund Burke ' 'The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing''(Brainyquotes.com). The society and the culture of the Puritan age were extremely different from modern society. The Puritans believed that the Bible was God's true guidelines for pure living. The accomplished church of the time explained that the effort of getting access to God was difficult and only possible within the surroundings of "church authority". Puritans dismissed themselves from the traditional confinements and formalities of Christianity, which had been building through |

South African MusicThe various types of music that the film documented was vocal music which is a missionary emphasis on choirs mixed with vocal music from South Africa it's basically acapella singing blend in the style of Western hymns with original native harmonies. Vocal music is very traditional to South Africa and it was common, it also had dances involved and social gathers and had complex call-and-response patterns. The film also documented instrumental music where you can see the drum or the flute; It also featured mbaqanga which is a famous South African dance combined with traditional elements of chanting and drumming and the film also featured a lot of maskanda also known as Zulu folk music. It also featured snapping which I really enjoyed; very creative it reminded me of Jackson five's vocal choirs. This film showed and also defended their ethnic recognition and showed how they all had hoped and aspirations. Off of research I believe this film was filmed secretly and with potential danger to |

Should the Death Penalty be Abolished?Do you think killing someone because they have killed someone is right? Murder is wrong, any way you look at it. Since childhood, I have learned that this is the truth. The question then is, what is capital punishment? Simply put, capital punishment can be defined as being the process in which a person is put to death as a punishment for a crime. It is also known as the death penalty. Coincidentally, that is the definition of murder. The death penalty punishment is the act of deliberately taking the life of another person. Currently, there are thirty-six states in the United States that have legalized the death penalty. This must be changed, and these states need to abolish it on the ground that it carries a dangerous risk of punishing the innocent. The action is barbaric, unethical, and is an ineffective punishment of a crime committed. On the other hand, a much better alternative may be life in prison without parole. The death penalty is the most irreversible crime governments' effec |

The Great Rise Of ChinaChina is undoubtedly the fastest growing country in the world. Economically and militarily, China is an important player in world politics. The following are just a few reasons why China is so important. China is one of the only nine countries that possesses nuclear weapons. They maintain embassies in 162 countries and they are the most populous country in the world. China's military is the largest, with 2.3 million active troops (Global Fire Power). All of this being said, it is understandable why China is one of the countries being talked about most in today's international society. The rise of China raises a lot of questions regarding the United States and its hegemonic cycle, with one being the seemingly most important- will China rise up to be the United States' challenger? But in order to discuss that question in its full complexity, it is essential to understand the following concepts. First, the hegemonic stability theory itself. What is it and what stage is the United States |

Oprah Winfrey's Challenging BeginningsPhilosophy of life is a vision of the way life should be lived. In this case, my philosophy of life is that one should be responsible for his or her life by learning to make the very best of the situations in their lives. These situations could be positive or negative. In other words, one should be answer reasonably for one's conduct. One's philosophy of life is inspired by mentors or role models in someone's life. These could be their parents, teachers, brothers or sisters, or celebrities from whom one learns various attributes that inspire their philosophies in life. In this case, Oprah Winfrey is one who inspired my philosophy of not only being responsible for my life but also doing the best at the current moment that puts me in the best place in the future moment. Oprah is considered a role model. When one hears that word many people think of something or someone who has impacted their life in a positive way. In my opinion a perfect example of a role model is Oprah Winfrey. She's |

The Age Resisting BrainAging of the brain is not enough to cause Alzheimer's or any of these other disorders. Over time the structure of the brain is known to change. It grows lighter, for example, and shrinks slightly. One of the cliches of neurology is that the human brain loses roughly a million neurons per year as it ages; this created a convenient rationale for seeing the onset of senility as the result of a decaying brain. However, the flaw in this explanation is that people who don't become senile presumably have lost the same number of neurons (this has to be left to conjecture, since reliable neuron counts can't be made in living people). At present it isn't known why one old brain stays lively and creative-one thinks of Michelangelo designing St. Peter's when he was nearly 90 or Picasso painting at the same age and Arthur Rubinstein playing the piano in Carnegie Hall- while another starts to deteriorate. One theory, based on animal research, is that our brains grow new connections as we age. As m |

Genetic Engineering and Designer HumansThe debate on using genetic engineering is essentially split because some professionals are completely against using DNA alteration to repair diseases or disorders and then there are those who are advocates of genetic engineering. The consideration is all concentrated over one main issue, ethics, meaning whether wanting to create a healthy newborn child by using DNA alteration is ethically veracious or not. Genetic engineering should be use to improve the lives of people from being born with genetic diseases or disorders such as Down syndrome, but it should not be use to program a human being. With the rapid growth of the use of technology, researchers are beginning to use genetic technology to obtain a better understanding of the human genome and phenotypes or physical characteristics that result. Genetic engineering, which is also known as genetic modification, is the alteration of genetic substance; it is a scientific alternation of the structure of genetic material in a living |

Revenge and Forgiveness in HamletWhen people seek revenge, they often become victims of their own emotions. The protagonist Hamlet from Shakespeare's play Hamlet, is unhappy and wants revenge for his father's murder. Dunstan, the protagonist in Robertson Davies' Fifth Business, also feels unhappy, but helps the situation instead of seeking revenge. Both stories follow the resolution of their misery, each with different conclusions. Even though Hamlet and Dunstan are both unhappy, there are many differences in how they resolve problems, which contribute to the resolution of the plot. Dunstan's misery begins when his friend and enemy, Percy Staunton, throws a snowball at him, he ducks to avoid the ball which hits pregnant Mary Dempster. Upon contact, the ball left Mary with brain damage and sent her into premature birth. "I was contrite and guilty, for I knew that the snowball was meant for me&qu |
