Since the football specifically is one most common and popular type of sport all around the |

Celebration of the Chinese New YearThe celebration of Chinese New Year has served various roles in America it helped to preserve Chinese heritage, it introduced Americans to their culture all while being morphed by new ideas and gave women the opportunity to be the ambassadors to their culture. The Chinese New Year is the result of ingenuity and an effort create a comprehensive calendar that appealed to everyone. Chinese New Year dates back to the Han dynasty in china (Pleck, 2000).It is a family tradition and a way to honor their ancestors and to ask the heavens for good fortune. Turmoil and economic instability drove my Chinese to leave home, while the promise of a better life pushed them to America. In 1849, the first Chinese men arrived in America, alone, alienated and in the effort to stay true to their roots they formed tight communities and celebrated the holidays from home (Cassel, 2002). Painting Review -Madonna and Child Throughout history, art has been created in many different kind of forms. Every artist has a different taste and owns a special technique or styles in their work. During their career as a painter, they will as well get influence by other artists, but they will also start to develop their own style or techniques later in their career. For example, Bartolomeo Suardi was influenced by Bramante and Simone Martini was influenced by Giovanni Pisano, however, these influences were allowed them to successfully develop their own styles and introduced it to others during their time period. Bartolomeo Suardi and Simone Martini both have a drawing depicted Madonna and Child. With an almost similar drawing, they were able to use their own unique ways to show the difference and tell the story behind the painting. Bartolomeo Suardi, also known as Bramantino was an Italian painter and architect. He was born in Milan, and is the son of Alberto Suardi. His work reveals the influence of painters such |

American Revolution - Politics and Radical ChangeThe American Revolution represented a radical alteration in American political ideas and institutions. The Revolution brought great change to the nation. During the time before the revolution, there were several events that made a big impact, leading to the American Revolution. The Declaration of Independence and the Articles of Confederation. These events helped the birth of the United States. The American Revolution Familiarized equivalence and Liberation. The Declaration of Independence was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776. This was the one biggest radical changes in the Revolution. It was such a huge change because of the influence it had on the nation and what it stood for which was life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. This is what gave the Puritans the desire to want Independence. These principles are much like what they wanted, when they came to the new world in the 1600s. The puritans where firm believers of the bible and all that was in the bible was the law that they lived by. They lived their lives devoted to please God. The archbishop, William Laud, took a visit to the churches and discovered that the puritans were no longer going b |

The Energy Crisis and a Call for ChangeThe U.S. culture is overrun with technology. Everyone has a smartphone, computer, and a car, but energy is a scarce resource that is facing the fate of depletion unless we change our ways of living or find a stable alternative energy source. Right now, we heavily rely on oil to sustain our comfortable lives, and our oil supply is running out, despite our heavy import strategies. There are several alternatives being discussed, such as wind power, solar panels, methane gas, and nuclear power. Each shows promise and has its limitations. In his book "Too Much Magic", James Kunstler proposes that these alternatives are not viable and that turning to technological advances to dig ourselves out of this energy crisis we face will not work. Nuclear power reactors use a uranium rod to perform the process of fission, where atoms are split into matter and massive amounts of energy. This process is cooled by turbine controlled water that turns into steam from the heat of the reactor core |

Major General Henry Heth in the Battle of GettysburgJuly of 1863 Major General Henry Heth was placed in charge of divisions in the Third Corps in the Confederate Army. Major General Heth was commanded to move his divisions out of Cashtowm and to the east towards Gettysburg. This is something that is not as widely known when people think about the battle of Gettysburg. Heth was a very aggressive leader and did not often prepare contingencies in case anything were to go wrong in battle. He also did not work well with the friendly forces that were to his right and left limits. Both of these issues should be looked at so future leaders can avowing making the same mistakes. Heth and his divisions unintentionally started the battle of Gettysburg which was a turning point in the Civil War leading to the Union's victory. When Heth's reconnaissance divisions sent to get shoes from Gettysburg met the division of soldiers from the Army of the Potamac there was hard fighting. This caused other leaders on both sides to begin to maneuver towards a |

Dybbuks and the Judaic FaithThe Judaic faith is not new to the belief in mysticism and the belief of otherworldly spirits. In fact, it may be the biggest modernly believed faith that has such beliefs as well as the most extensive history with them. An uncommonly found, yet popular, spirit within the faith is the dybbuk. The dybbuk, דיבוק, meaning stick, adhere, or cling, is believed to be the dislocated soul of someone deceased. This spirit possesses an individual in order to act out a task of varying degrees. They can only be exorcised by the most violent means. The dybbuk becomes this detached soul because of the severe sins they committed in their past life and because of the grand weight of these sins were not even allowed to transmigrate to a true afterlife. Because of this they wander the earth searching for a host. Early experiences with a dybbuk were confused with an interaction with a devil or demon, as opposed to the inherent ghost that this spirit apparently is. It was later deduced that to have |

Nuns Fret Not at Their Convent's Narrow Room by WordsworthWilliam Wordsworth's sonnet "Nuns Fret Not at Their Convent's Narrow Room," explains how a person has a place and purpose that they themselves can only discover. Following the classic Italian sonnet format, Wordsworth uses iambic pentameter and a certain rhyme scheme to guide the reader through a series of cases that may lead the reader into believing that we are all forced into a certain lifestyle or routine. But, just as most traditional sonnets, there is a breaking point in which the tone changes and we find that we force ourselves into certain paths. In doing so, we find our purpose and thrive in it. Wordsworth begins this poem with a series of different people and the professions they seem to have been forced into. He says "nuns fret not at their convent's narrow room: and hermits are contented with their cells; and students with their pensive citadels" (lines 1-3). Although Wordsworth does not clearly state his position, the lines take on a bit of a sarcastic tone that makes the reader think that nuns, hermits, and students are not truly "contented" with their lifestyle. My Move to CanadaThis story is about my family's struggles and obstacles we went through to move from Pakistan to Canada. It was huge change in my life, and it affected us positively. It has been 4 years since I have been in my home country. It's a pleasant, welcoming, and a heartwarming place. My father decided to move on, and explore more opportunities in life. After a lot of research and exploring, we decided to move to Canada. Canada is known to be a great place for immigrants. It has more opportunities, diversity, and less racism. After 2 years of getting paperwork done, we were finally able to apply for permanent residence. During that time of waiting anxiously, my grandma passed away, and it w |

The Brown Marmorated Stink BugThe exact date of when the brown marmorated stink bug, Halyomorpha halys, arrived in the United States is not certain. However, it is agreed upon that the first sighting of this invasive herbivorous insect species was in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It was accidentally introduced to the United States from Asia. Since its arrival in the 1990s, the brown marmorated stink bug, (BMSB), has been detected in a growing number of states in the U.S. The BMSB has infested homes across the U.S. and continues to increase and spread. With at least 26 or more states with findings of the BMSB in 2010, Arkansas is at risk of possible invasion because its bordering states have already encountered this aggressive species. [1][2][3] This insect is an unwanted nuisance and poses a great threat to agriculture. Apples, corn, peaches, soybeans and other crops have become a feasting ground for the BMSB. They are a relentless annoyance to farmers, especially since insecticides and pesticides have little effect |

A Letter to Elie WieselDear Mr. Wiesel, I am agnostic; I am not positive if there is a greater power although I would like to believe so. After reading Night it has my eyes and made me realize that my name, race, gender, religion, and age do not matter. It is what is on the inside that truly means something and that can make a difference someday. The most profound point that stood out was the horrific events that were taking place to one just because of a different religion. While reading Night I would become outraged that one can torture another man so horribly and nothing could be done about it. It made me disgusted that there were and still are horrible people in the world that do not have morals and values to be a good and valuable citizen. The overall impression of this story was based on honesty; while reading Night one receives the inside information on the horror that took place in the concentration camps. The importance of reading Night was to get a |

Dismantling Argument - MedlinePlusSome athletes do not pay attention to their diet when preparing for the season to come. This lack of nutritional awareness can be a detrimental mistake when it comes to performing at the highest level in order for the team to win. Athletes can find themselves trapped behind a locked door when trying to break through to the next level. They will come to find that the key to that door can be found in good nutrition. MedlinePlus writes, "Nutrition can help enhance athletic performance. An active lifestyle and exercise routine, along with eating well, is the best way to stay healthy." MedlinePlus has a firm stance on nutrition for athletics. MedlinePlus clearly states which diets are most effective for athletes. When nutrition comes down to opposing arguments it is found that the argument does not lie in the area of whether or not it is good to eat healthily or unhealthily but more so in the area of which nutrients are best and whether or not to use supplements in an athlete's diet to get what the athlete is really looking for from the workouts. In MedlinePlus' article, the topic that is |

Comparison of Dr. Strangelove and Fail-SafeDeciding between two things is an everyday issue, and we usually end up making a decision upon what is the best offer or outcome for us. In this case, I am considering the similarities and the differences between two movies, which are Dr. Strangelove and Fail-Safe. Dr. Strangelove is an exaggerated sarcastic comedy while Fail-Safe is a severe drama. In this paper, I explained that although the two films are similar, they are also different. I do this by comparing the characters of the film. In comparing the characters of the film, each character affected the film in a certain type of way. The characters I discussed in this paper are General Turgidson, General Black, Dr. Strangelove, Professor Groeteschele, The President, President Muffley, and the woman. First, in Dr. Strangelove, General Buck Turgidson is kind of an over the top character. He acts like he knows it all but he really doesn't in the aspect of pretending he knows exactly the circumstances of the war that Russia and Am |

History of Anglo-SaxonsAfter Rome withdrew from Britain in 410 AD, the country was vulnerable to invasion. Over the next two centuries Germanic warriors would come and go from across the English Channel and North Sea, fighting both natives and each other for conquest and territory. In an account of these times written by the prophet and preacher, Gildas, and then later in more detail by the Venerable Bede, some of them were mercenaries invited to aid in the defense against northern raiders, and others were unwelcome invaders.1 Among them were the Saxons from the Saxony province of Germany, the Angles from southern Denmark and the Danish Islands, Jutes from Jutland in southern Denmark, and the Franks and Frisians from northwest Germany. Modern historians have identified them as Anglo-Saxons, collectively, and their arrival in or around the middle of the fifth century marked the beginning of the period now known as Anglo-Saxon England. The six-hundred years of Anglo-Saxon rule produced many lasting legacies. T |

Short Story - It Should Have Ended Before it BeganI swore to myself that I would never come back to this field again. Yet, I find myself here. The memories came to me hitting me left and right. The emotion that I tried not to show for so many years just came flowing out all at once. My life at this softball field was a living hell, but now that my little sister is on the high school team I find myself having to come back to this field. The field itself wasn't as crappy as I remember, the family members of the players were loud, opinionated, and drama filled, and the game was the worst game I have ever seen considering the fact it was against Nipomo. My little sister plays for Arroyo Grande High School JV softball, and the location for the JV is horrible. It is right next to the FFA farm. It smelt disgusting. Holding your breath is something that you learn how to do just by being at that field. The bleachers, in which we had to sit on were extremely dangerous. They were wooden and falling apart, and there was only one set of them at t |

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," is the fourth film in the Indiana Jones franchise. This movie's plot was much different than any other version of Indiana Jones. The movie is all about a crystal skull from an outside world which had crashed into earth long time ago. The movie is created by George Lucas and directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie can fall under two different types of genre which are Adventure, and Action. I am sorry to say that I totally disliked the movie and must give it a thumb down. If you would like to know why I disliked the movie and gave it a thumb down you got to read through the whole review. I wouldn't be able to able to talk a lot about the Indiana Jones sequel as I have never watched any of the previous three Indiana Jones movies nor have I been a fan of the Indiana Jones sequel. I could say that the addition of Shia LaBeouf (Mutt) do the movie was a nice addition as it added some humor and adventure to the movie. Although Shia had som |

Identity in The Wave and PassportIf you give anything time it can change, especially identity. Identity is the way you view yourself, how others see you. Time changes someone's sense of identity, and shapes who we really are from individual to a group. The novel, "The Wave," by Morton Rhue, demonstrates this well, especially in comparison to the poem, "Passport," by Mahmoud Darwish. One environment that influences identity is the organised group of, "The Wave." "And everyone is going along with it like a flock of sheep it's like Night of the Living Dead or something." Laurie's argument with Amy states that there is a lack if individuality, as The Wave has taken over the original members, and the idea of the wave started by Ben Ross in his History class. The simile influences the reader to think about what |

The Australian Coffee CultureRESEARCH OUTCOME As a saying goes," as long as there is coffee in the world, how bad could things be?" this would be what South Australians think. Even though SA is not the source of coffee like Melbourne and Sydney, coffee drinking is still highly demanded by people in SA. Nobody could have failed to notice the fact that caffeine is the most widely consumer psychoactive drug in the world, but unlike many other psychoactive substances, it is legal and unregulated in nearly all parts of the world. Coffee is not only a drink but also a kind of culture in Australia. This report includes the information about the history of coffee in Australia, the reasons why South Australians love drinking coffee, to what extent has coffee culture affected South Australia, and what makes it become a type of culture more than just a drink. HOW WAS COFFEE DEVELOPED IN HISTORY? When it comes to the history of coffee in Australia, it has to go back to 1950s, when the World War 2 came to an end. Si |

Pulse Beat ExperimentIn this experiment, students had to collect data on how fast their pulse beats in thirty seconds. The purpose of this project is to figure out how the pulse rate for males and females who drink a high percentage of caffeine is affected when it is active. My hypothesis is the male active pulse reaction will be faster than the female active pulse reaction. When a person is active, they "produce a physiological perturbation that significantly influences autonomic nervous system activity." (Carter, Eric, and Andrew 2003) This causes the pulse rate to increase from its resting pulse rate. Heart rate varies depending on who the person is. A person may have a slower heart rate because of their weight or height. Some people are also more active than others, causing their heart rate to be at a faster pace. When people are at a resting pulse, "heart rate (HR) exhibits an oscillatory pattern in synchronicity with the respiratory cycle." (Melanson 2000) A resting pulse w |

Clash of Civilizations in Antony and CleopatraIn Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare highlights two great cultures of efficient reasonable society of Rome and self –indulgent society of Egypt. The two great civilizations were bi-polar and they repelled each other like same sides of two magnates . Tiber, 1the river of Rome connects Europe with the rest of known world, symbolizes the maturity and highly consciousness of Romans. "Let Rome in Tiber melt and the wide arch Of the ranged empire fall. Here is my space." (1.1.38-39) Whereas River Nile of Egypt provides fertile land and symbolizes passion and liberty. Shakespeare tries to unify and harmonizes these contrasts in form of romantic love of Antony and Cleopatra but he is also aware of the consequences of this unification which turns to great disaster due to the clash of civilizations. The audience is introduced to this threat in the beginning of the play when the Roman Soldiers see Antony as 'a strumpet's fool' (1.1.13) where as Antony finds a 'new heaven , ne |

Muhammad Yunus and Transformational LeadershipMuhammad Yunus is a Bangladeshi social entrepreneur who is known best for founding The Grameen Bank and pioneering the concepts of microcredit and microfinance. He is a visionary whose leadership style is similar to that of a transformational leader. Transformational leadership develops followers by challenging them to think outside of what they are accustomed to or believe was possible. They motivate them to do so by keeping up with high morals and values that help guide their performance (Avolio, 1999). Most outstanding leaders derive their core values and qualities through crucible events. Thomas (2009) defines crucible events as those trials or tests which force individuals to question who they are and what is most important to them. For Yunus, it was the mentoring relationship that Yunus had with his mother, Sofia Khatun, along with the poverty that he was surrounded with that inspired and pushed him to be the leader that he is today (Yunus, 1998). His mother had always put away |

Tools and the Manufacturing ProcessAbstract In these paper we discuss about few frequently used tools and their properties and manufacturing processes. Coating used for tools and the advantages of the coatings, the processes where these manufacturing tools are used and why these tools fair better than their tools are explained here. Introduction Cutting tool is being used in every day life, for example kitchenware, metal works, heavy machineries and many more. Cutting tools are used in initial stages and finishing stages for removal of excess metal from the desired shape and finishing the process by polishing the surfaces. The property of the cutting tool should be higher than that of the subject being shaped and cut so that the cutting tool will not fail while the process is taking place. A cutting tool will have to withstand higher heat and longer life. Cutting tools have been used from the age of industrial revolution i.e. the 1800 AD. The tools being used during that time were raw and very fragile, until R. Mush |

Freemasonry - Origins, History and MythsAll over the world, from Asia to small towns in the United States, freemasonry worked to build a more enlightened society. The name was inspired by masonry. Freemasons have helped to spread the ideas of the Enlightenment. They have also been accused of attempting to undermine religion and plotting for revolution. They had private clubs, held meetings in lodges, used symbols, and had secret rituals. Freemasonry has a rich history based in myth, but an even richer factual history. The study of Freemasonry can be approached in two different ways: factually or mythically, and each has a wealth of information. It is uncertain how or when the Masonic Fraternity was formed. One theory is that it began during the Middle Ages with stonemasons' guilds. Scotland has a long connection with Freemasons and many believe some of the oldest Masonic texts can be found there. It is unknown how the first Masons were recruited. Stevenson (2011) states "Though at first Scotland's lodges were entirely composed of stonemasons, in time a trick |

Complexity and Functionality of the Human BrainThe execution of one simple task is produced by the coordination of various regions and functional areas within the brain. Using language as a focus, this essay will debunk the myth that only 10% of the human brain is used by explaining both the receptive and expressive elements of conducting a conversation, with reference to anatomical areas of the human brain. The aphasic disorders created through neural damage as well the double language dissociations present will prove that much of the brain is being used most of the time. Language is one of the most complex cognitive behaviours (Gazzaniga, 2002), involving the coordination of separate brain areas when executing one simple cognitive task, such as talking or listening (Kalat, 2013). Damage to any of these areas will result in a language disorder, such as aphasia. Aphasia refers to the collective deficits in language comprehension and production that are caused by neurological damage. Problems with the language-processing mechanisms |

Amaterasu - Japanese Goddess of the SunSince the early stages of humanity, humans have used creation myths and legends to explain phenomena they could not decipher scientifically. Whether it be a myth about how the universe burst forth into existence, or how a zebra got its stripes, myths are used to explain what man cannot. The Japanese Shinto myth of the deity Amaterasu-O-Mikami is one of many stories that depict how natural phenomena, such as the sun, came to be. This worshipped and revered goddess of the sun, not only brought the bright star to our sky, but also became an iconic figure in Japanese culture. She represents a strong feminine leader, who helped women gain more respect in Japan's past and present society. Amaterasu-O-Mikami is the celestial sun goddess of the Shinto religion. According to the book, Japanese Mythology A to Z by Jeremy Roberts, her name translates to "Heaven Shining Great Deity" (Roberts 4). She is one of the most worshipped beings in the Shinto's collection of gods, called the Shi |
